Are you using a kerosene for heat? Depending on the heater, kerosene can put up to a gallon of water vapor into the air for every gallon burned. When I used a bullet heater on kero, I would get a skim of rust on everything in the shop.

Vents can also help by letting the barn breathe during temperature and weather changes. Gable end vents and soffit vents are inexpensive and easy to add if you don't already have them.

Is this right? A gallon of kero = a gallon of vapor water, is this at what concentration of that gallon of vapor? Or a gallon or water vaporized, which would be impossible as there would be no kero present?

It is correct, although that is the high end. My shop would literally rain when I ran my heater on cold days.

I keep my tools in the barn in open wooden boxes, but I am starting to notice rust on them. I guess there is too much moisture in there. I am thinking about putting a wooden lid on the boxes and adding charcoal or something to absorb moisture. What do other people do?

-try butchers wax weekly or linseed oil, clear spray varnish can help some too

Spruce is the name of the distributor. I still don't see where it says what it is made from. What I'm getting at is it's description makes it sound the same as Fluid Film, and one of their statements even says it use's "fluid film technology". They do say it is not made from wax and Fluid Film is made from lanolin. I'm just curious is all.

Here is what it says on the MSDS for ACF50:

Inhalation was not performed and a suggested exposure limit is listed below. All other untested components are listed in Section III."

Also says it is non-flammable.
