My brother works in the control room at an N-Plant and they use this ultra pure closed loop water also.

Looking at these pictures I was amazed at how relatively clean things were. I had imagined that everything would be covered in black coal dust.

TBAR,
Most of the plant was fairly clean at the time I was inside. However, when I was up on the 16th floor where the feed belts were, they were not running coal in at that time. The feeders were still pretty full from the early shift.
The dumper building was the dustiest place I went to. They were dumping to show me what it looked like. Glad we saved that part until last. I was filthy.

Inspector......nice pics. Up here, (N Ohio) we receive coal by rail from PA, W. Vir., Kentucky, and out west. (Wy.) and dump it with 2 different kinds of dumpers. The first one is a rotary, but we uncouple every car. The second dumper is a bottom dump. Each car is opened on the bottom,and the coal is shaked out.
Then the coal gets reclaimed and loaded into boats shipped to Canada for their power plants. We handle anywhere between 5 & 7 million tons a year through our dock.
