Boy, that project looks familiar, just a bit bigger than mine. A good (emphasis good) radiator shop can recore your radiator very easily. In fact, they can even modify the radiator by adding additional rows or a different type core to increase the cooling capacity. The biggest problem I had with my turbo project (used a Seca turbo, which actually appears in a Google image search) was oil temperature. The temps would rise until the oil pressure would start to drop. I ended up having to add a oil cooler and that solved the problem. Oh, I also had some trouble sizing the return line correctly. I originally used a -4 return line and had to upsize it to a -6.

It would be real nice to have added cores. I will call around and see what the locals can do. I have no monitoring of oil temps, pressure light stays off, thats all I know. I always use a -4 feed line and a -10 drain on turbo setups, might be overkill on the drain, but never been an issue for me.

I had oil drain line issues on my chevy mud truck 6.2 turbo project years ago... after nearly 10 years and a few of them as a daily driver... no issues. Started at 3/8" and ended up at 1/2" (= to AN -8)

Sweet.

I would consider adding some sort of a shield or stick on insulation material to the battery by the turbo hot side.

I could put together a complete parts list when I get a bit more time. There really isnt too much in the way of parts. The turbo I used is from a 1985 saab 900. I liked this turbo because the size is about right and it is fairly small and compact and oil cooled only. Most turbos (including most of the newer saab t3 turbos) are water and oil. I think you could get away with running on oil only and not connecting the water, but I wanted the simplicity of an oil only turbo. Ill write up a parts list when I get a bit more time.

You can always add an in-line oil filter, I had one of these on a turbo car I took apart recently:

the turbo 420 has now taken over plow duty at my place. Here is a little video of it clearing out in front of my shop. Nothing too exciting, not working hard at all, but you can hear a little whistle.
