I only saw the Moose. I didn't have a permit to take one of those guys but yes the meat is great...

What I got was an Elk and their meat is very good. Somewhat like deer but not the same. Deer seems to have more of a gamy taste. It's hard to explain but it's good..

Great story. You think the elk is big until you see a moose huh!!!! I took this picture while Jeeping in Colorado. Just after I clicked the picture and my wife and I were excitedly talking to each other she pointed and said "Oh My God"!!! A huge Bull Moose ran thru this clearing but I didn't get a picture!!! Awesome animals though.

We stopped one winter on our snowmobiles at a tree. Now there is 3 feet of snow on the ground and we see these prints in the snow which sunk to the ground. Above my head the tree limbs were eaten clean of the buds and such.

It was a moose that did it. They must be huge in person. This guy must have been 9 feet from the ground....

I was in Alaska in January for a month 15 years ago. Lived in a tent 30 miles South of Fairbanks. The snow was belly button deep to me and I'm 5'11". I watched Moose walk around grazing on trees. They could lift their foot completely out of the snow to step. An amazing animal. Dumb as a rock. That's what makes them dangerous.
