My version of a boxblade hitch (the sequel)
Took everyone's advice, and am rebuilding the BB reciever hitch.
As promised, here is a pic of my first weld. Be gentle.

I found if I pull the tip away from the work about an inch, I can see what I'm doing. The manual says about 1/2 inch.

At 1" away you have no control of your beed. You're holding the gun and hoping for the best. It won't jump in place, you got to build that bead where you need it.

Penetration is what makes strong welds. Your weld is not penetrating. Your weld is merely sitting on top of the steel.

I agree I keep that nozzle sometimes closer than 1/2 inch. going to have to keep that nozzle close.
