Around here they are built out of wood timbers, squared, and the bolted together. They are about the size of CADplans steel ones. Jon

Well, they decided the hillside on the far side of the steel bridge is too wet to only put rock down,,, so,,,
they started putting pulp wood down,, they will put rock over the wood,,,
Ultra cool! I haven't seen a corduroy road in 50 years. The Army Engineers used to build them to move supply trucks over wet ground.
Yeah, nice to get a road along with the deal. We sorta did that when we ran our waterline down our 1/2mi "driveway". When they started it was an old logging road. They added I-don't-know-how-many loads of river rock after they backfilled the trench. The bill was only $22,000 including the gravel and grading. Not sure how much was waterline, and how much was road, but we were pleased with both.
The logging company owner came over Saturday, and loaded two log trucks,,
he had time between loads, and we talked quite a bit,,
The yellow CAT knuckle boom log loader was purchased new right before Christmas,
it was the last "non-DEF" log loader that they would get.
Also the engine was being changed from a 6 cylinder, to a 4 cylinder.
The log loader cost $285K, but, they got over half of that as trade in on their 2005 loader.

the loggers did not even bother to show up today,,
we may get 6" of snow after midnight tonight,,
I might not see them for a WEEK!!
Who here would cross that steel bridge with a rubber tire equipped tractor?
I am positive they will call and ask if I will plow the snow,,,
THAT bridge would really scare me with snow on it,,,

Does the contract say you have to maintain their road? Usually loggers in N. MI maintain their own roads on their jobs. How much of an side ways angle is the steel bridge? Are you using chains? That would be more of my concern. Jon
No, I have been removing the snow just for the fun of it,, so far,,
The better I help keep the road, now, the less damage that will ultimately be created,,,
I do not have chains, the bridge is pretty level to the eyeball,,
they are so far away, I know they would hate to drive that far just to move some snow,,
If we get over 6", I will probably try to cross the bridge with the JD 4105,,,
If we get over 3", I will switch from the rake, to the blade,,,
