My weed wacker is Roundup!

Some trees die with a single spray of Roundup contacting the bark. Read Pear, and dogwood. Black Locust trees can be watered with the stuff. I killed two great lawn trees with it by accident, spraying vines..

Ditto here - Flowering Cherry trees and a Peach tree. I know I did not get any on the trees' foliage.

I love roundup for killing the poison ivy and keeping the rustic stone wall we have from getting covered in weeds. I only use it once every year or two so I'm not worried about hurting the environment.

At least it's not like the knucklehead I heard about while I was landscaping on Fisher's Island NY who took used oil from the garage he worked at and poured that around his house as weed killer. He got reported, not sure exactly what happened to him but I'm sure he isn't dumping oil into the ground anymore.

I am a big round-up user myself. (well, not actually round up, but the cheaper stuff that has the same active ingredients).

I too hate weedeating. I give myself a nice 10" or so barrier around EVERYTHING. House, decks, trees, propane tank, septic covers, etc.

Once a year is good. It ususally only takes me about 2 or 3 pump sprayers full to o everything:thumbsup: The problem is I ususally have to buy a new sprayer every year though. They dont tolerate diesel fuel well. And I usually find myself using the sprayer with a little diesel/K1 in there to spray down engines or old tractors for degreasing. Whatever I am working on.

And I have yet to kill ANY trees. Including about 30 or so little ones that were dug up and transplanted into the yard from the woods. I also have a bunch of mature white pines and poision Ivy growing up them and all around under them like crazy. I have drenched the stuff. Including what is grwing up the trees. And the bark gets a pretty good dose too. And I have yet the hurt any of them either. But I do mix as the lable suggest and dont mix it too strong.

In the UK there are also formulations of RoundUp which are classified as approved for use both around and even IN water bodies.

Aquamaster (and Rodeo, I think) can be applied to plants in bodies of water, as long as it is not applied directly to the water within 1/2 mile of an active potable water intake.

I have a 16 gallon sprayer tied down onto a small trailer. I use that sucker 3 times a year and usually start out with 32 gallons the first application and will go down to 26 gallons the 2nd and 3rd applications. I have a lot of areas that I spray around barns and sheds. It's a lot of work but it's nice keeping the place clean, neat, and snake free.

Yep, sounds like similar stuff.

Couple of other things. There are weeds now that are becoming Roundup tolerant just like the issue with bacteria. When that happens your only choice will be some really nasty stuff. Several mentions of snakes has been made. No snakes means more rodents. I read yesterday that somebody was diagnosed with the bubonic plague. That comes from rats.

No convenience is free of risk.

Well this weekend will be two weeks since I did first application of round up. I was worried and then noticed the past few days I got a really good kill. There was about 4 or 5 inches of growth. But we really needed the sun to shine before the round up would work.
Did another application last night to get what I did not the first time. And also got new areas. I bought the round up in tractor supply it was $39 for 2 1/2 gallon con. I get at least 3 or 4 40 gallons of spray with this. I worked around my bird pens last night, I do not like tall weeds around pheasant and chukar pens makes gives meat eating critters a little to much cover. Have a couple more application to do for brush that I cut last year. I brush hogged small brush that was an 1 1/2 around. I want to kill the brush so I wait for it to grow a little and hit with brush killer.
I also use this in my parking area I hate weeds growing in parking area. So a little tap and they are gone in two weeks or 5 days of good sunshine. I also like to spray the side of my driveway so I do not hit stones while I mow, I hate to sharpen blades on zero turn. I go just a litte on teh grass enough
so I do not get into stones pushed by plowing driveway in winter and if you do not go to far on lawn you really do not notice it. and my driveway is 1400 feet long.
