How is your wife doing now?

I chopped off my left little finger at the first joint about 20 years ago while working on a John Deere chisel plow. The doc reattached it and although I don't have a full range of motion it is healthy.

I've been busy and haven't posted on TBN in a while. <font color="red">Update:</font>


The office visits didn't go so well. She's having a lot of problems with her finger nail and with the one side, and had to be put back on antibiotics /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. She is scheduled for another surgery on Tuesday. If this surgery doesn't work, I think the Doctor is going to take one of her toenails and transplant it to her finger along with more skin graphs /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. Does it ever get any better?? Thanks for listening.

Yeah, me too. I had never seen this thread until now. My little bro got one of his thumbs crushed when he was freshman in high school. I was a senior and got to the Dr office just in time to see them put the last of the stitches in. He had stitches in all four side to put it all back together. His nail grew back eventually, but it still does not look right. Made a nice spatter spot on the mirror in the weight room when it happened...

I've seen folks who try to save the ends of fingers after severing and it just never seems to work out well. My G'father cut his pinky off on his table saw and had the Dr. just finish the job and cover the end with his skin flap. He was well enough to be back working in just a couple of weeks and that pinky never got in his way again. If it ever happens to me I think I'll take his way. I have 2 that were smashed at different times and are a bit disfigured and nerve damaged....but haven't cut one off .....yet.

I got a PM from Gerard this morning and he said she's doing very good considering. He said it still gives her some pain at times but at least it's there to give her pain.

Mike, I'm sure there are lots of conflicting opinions in that regard. I suspect (though don't know for sure) that women are more concerned with the appearance of the hand than you or I would be. I know when I had carpal tunnel surgery, the specialist (surgeon) who did it said he could do, and had done, the tiny incision and scope deal to avoid leaving a scar because he'd had patients for whom that was a big deal. He said he was pretty confident with it, but even more confident when he could open it up and see better. I'm sure you know I didn't care about a little scar on the inside of my wrist; I just wanted the best job I could get.

Funny thing about my G'father ...he'd used that table saw for years..... he was about 75 when he finally had that accident. His final working days were as a carpenter. -- Farmer gone broke before that. -- (30's)

Mike, my wife's oldest brother (she has 5) is a retired West Virginia junior high school science teacher and assistant principal and he took a finger off with his table saw 4 or 5 years ago. I don't think they made any attempt to put it back on.
