Re: My wife wants a Gazebo, and there she sits

What is left to do:
Plastic trellis around base to keep critters out
Edging, landscape fabric and crushed stone out to a bit past the roofs Drip edge
Finish roof trim and Cupola,
Get and install screens
Add screen material to floor decking and screw down decking,
Lots of landscaping planting, etc. A lot of material will be added to almost cover the post support blocks.

Couple more shots

Re: My wife wants a Gazebo, and there she sits with Cupola & metal roof!

Still have the floor to screw down after I lay the screening over the Joists. The composite decking is all cut and fitted. Also need to add the screens, and lay in perimeter a edging boarder with crushed stone plus do a bunch of dirt moving soil mixing and planting.

I made the cupola from some stutters left from my dad, framed a little roof and had the guy doing the standing seam roof finish it off. No way did I want to tackle a 24 ga. standing seam roof. That metal is 0.026" thick.

Re: My wife wants a Gazebo, and she has one now

My wife wanted a Gazebo, and she has one now.
It sits on the highest point of our property.
The round stone ring was actually originally put there to hide an outcrop of ledge, the high point of the ledge is about 16" below the floor of the Gazebo.
The round stone garden gave my wife ideas.
I hope never to build another.

The gazebo looks like perfection,, :) I envy your woodworking skills,,,
Major woodworking for me is to add the boards to the steel framed picnic table I built recently,,
42 carriage bolts,, no nails or screws,,,

Do you have electricity in the gazebo?

We have a large screened in porch,, without a fan, the last few days heat would have been unbearable,,,

We have a ceiling fan that has run for over 20 years,, 24/7/365,,,

Two weeks ago, the humidity got so bad,, we had to add a small fan.

We love being outside,, the screen makes it perfect!!

The main reason we went with solar panels on the barn roof vs. the more ideal location of setting up the panels on post was the freaking ledge we have all over the place. The farm next to us is called Ledge wood, Ours is called Breezy Ridge. (Not very original, but good descriptions) Running water line or wire underground means dynamite or one big mean Ditch Witch, excavator hammer, etc. So my wife will do some solar stuff for lights, etc in the Gazebo.

Humidity is no fun.

Usually not so bad in NH, but one day I went out in the AM and thought it was 90F. It really was barely 70F. 100% humidity.
I'll put up with the winters up here, thank you.

Bugs are not so bad most of the time either. I hate biting flies however.
