Another thought. Do you have a riding mower and does she do any of the mowing?

Do you enjoy her company so much that you want her in the tractor with you?

Do you have the extra cash to buy a larger, more expensive tractor, just to have her talking to you while you are trying to work your land?

I'm sure she is a wonderful lady, just like all our wives, but some things are just better done by yourself.

For those wanting the spouse to ride along. Just remove the tractor seat and get a Harley Davidson Bi#ch seat. Put a lot of tools in those saddlebags.

The old David Brown tractors in the UK used to come as standard with a duel seat [buddy seat]. They were handy when doing row work as you could hutch over and get your eye over the row you were running down.. I suppose it could be possible to remove a standard seat and fit a home made duel seat....

And that may just be what it becomes, a "duel" seat.

On the other hand, a dual seat is not possible on my current SCUTS and CUTS. There simply is not room.

Farm in front of me 120 acres was farmed years ago by a crippled man and his wife. She always rode along with him and helped operate the tractor.

Thinking of what they did together on a small tractor makes me smile when people with 3 acres buy a 70 hp tractor.

My wife is not the problem. It's my little dogs that want to ride along with me. Even thought of getting a cab tractor so they could.

Not the cheap route; but I think this tends to be one of the big drivers for folks to get Side-by-sides. On the plus side too for those is they can help haul tools or extra passengers and might be easier to drive for many tasks around the homestead.

Growing up I remember my grandfather always had us stand on the back blade or brushhog and hang onto the ROPS when riding around fields/roads (ie level ground without risk of rollover). We never had issues/injuries but being older and wiser I would never do that with my wife/daughter!
