Wow, very nice Edward! That's some serious meat on that thing!

Shes pretty beefy, I love the corner post exhaust. So much MORE visibility. :) I just want to drive it now as we speak.

Well, no tractor for me today. Didn't show up. I wonder what route the driver is taking to travel the 7 hours from GA to VA? He must have a lot of out of the way deliveries on the way!

I spoke to the dealer about the pre-delivery inspection that they complete before I can pick it up. They put it on a PTO dyno for about 1 hour and run it at various RPMs and loads and go everything over to make sure there are no leaks or anything like that. They also check all fluid levels before and after the run-in. I think he said their PTO dyno is good for 300HP and that once I fully break it in, I'm welcome to bring it back in for another dyno run to see how big an increase there is. Cool stuff!

Sounds like you got the same truck driver I got to deliver my 110! I did the math and he was traveling less than 200 miles a day to get from MT to MI.

I would like to see the HP kick after the break in - be some interesting results! Hopefully it comes in soon:thumbsup:

Well.. it's reassuring to hear that the dealer is a "full service" outfit! They're wanting to make sure you're gonna be happy with your new tractor. That's worth a whole lot!

Stopped by the dealer at lunch time and still no 5085M.

I guess it will be first of next week, hopefully. I did see this H340 that he just got in. Other than mounting the brackets on the tractor, it appears that the H series come fully assembled on the pallet.

I did unbox all my options and can't wait to spend a little quality installing these once I get my tractor home.

Everything came with fully detailed install manuals so the installs should be very simple.

pclausen;

Time is money... Granted, the optional equipment that you've laid out on the garage floor is not overly technical to install. So, the question of the day - how much did your dealer "allow" you for installation time - as opposed to his mechanics time?

I; for one, didn't realize that dealers would "work with you" on some of the work to install the more basic options.

Might be an "option" that other's would take up on their new tractor purchase, too.

Thanks.

Good question AK!

My original quote showed $1400 for "setup" I think. It is now $400 for just the loader (which I'm still debating doing myself, especially after seeing that H340), but that aside, So I'm looking at saving $1000 worth of setup fees by installing these options myself. Once I remove the necessary panels, it should only take 1 hour to install/run all needed wiring, so total install time is going to be 2-3 hours by my estimation, which on an hourly basis would work out to about $333/hr.

Wow... that's quite a payday! Er, half-day... $1,000!

Well, worth having a "negotiation" with your local dealer when making a deal to buy!

I think he's doing his own innstall for the fun of working on his new machine.
With your lift, I would do the loader install! :D Not everyone is as well equipped to do the install as you are

Hard to say which is worse waiting on the tractor or waiting on the options. At least you will not be waiting on the dealer to do the installs. Plus you will have all the instructions for future reference. I doubt they get passed on to the buyer.

There's definitely some truth to that! Another main reason is that I'd rather take my time and to it right than have some apprentice rushing through it at the dealer, possibly breaking/scratching a panel in the process.

Very true. I've read through them all now, and I'm real impressed with the level of detail.

Here's the whole collection. The real fancy one is for the EH right side switch. :D

And an example of the installation instructions.

All the manuals that have anything to do with the electrical, includes the picture/illustration of how to disconnect the negative battery terminal. Kinda makes you concerned about the assumed skill of the JD Tech that is the intended audience.
