Mystery Kubota

Here's something a little off-topic. While I was driving on business yesterday, I saw a very small Kubota on a flatbed parked next to the highway. There wasn't a model number on the hood. It looked at least 10 years old, maybe even 20. What struck me was how VERY SMALL it was. It appeared at least as small as a BX. It was just slightly larger than a lawn tractor. It had a 4 foot shredder on the 3 point, so I know it was a real tractor.

I'm wondering if the sub-compact tractor market has been explored by Kubota in the past. Anybody have any idea what model of tractor I saw? Just curious.

Off hand my guess would be a B4200. There is one for sale on ebay right now, it is Item #589829358. See if this is what you saw.

That is exactly the little tractor I saw. Very impressive research!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif 12.5 horses rarin' to go. I guess maybe the BX is not such a new idea after all, just the extra ponies under the hood.

If it was that small, it could also have been a B5100.

Kubota has always made small tractors, that is what gave them their start. While, it took sometime for people to take the little Kubotas serious but now they are probably number one and the orange painted tractors are known for toughnes. Now Kubota returns to their roots and offers a small-tuff-for real tractor--the BX and many folks keep calling it a GT, a LT, not quite a real tractor etc. when in actuallity Kubota considers it a small tractor--I think they should know. J

I think it's kind of like calling a pickup a truck. It's not really a truck but it doesn't really matter. The farmers around here don't even consider my JD 4600 a real tractor. I don't think it really matters what you call it.
