Mystery pipeline on my land

There were coal slurry lines that ran along the eastern edge of Ohio and probably into West Virginia. They carried coal slurry to many power plants. If you can find out the size of the line and how deep it was buried as well as the aerial maps, that would help. I am sure the energy company contacted OUPS (utility protection service) to locate any existing claimed lines before they started the project. If it wasn't claimed, probably no one has used it for quiet awhile.

SE ohio is covered with old and new pipelines. That must be a really old one, or else someone would have been using that right of way for a new pipeline without compensation.

I have a pipeline being constructed across my land starting any day now. One of the things specifically mentioned in the contract granting the easement was that if the pipeline is abandoned (we said for 12 months, they countered with 24), the easement is void and the pipeline becomes my property where it is on my property. Another was that if they want to put another pipeline in the easement I granted them, they gotta pay for "damages' to my property again. I have no idea if such things are common in other parts of the country, or if they were done years ago. Sounds like someone abandoned the one on your property. How big is the pipe?

Fishheadbob, that historical imagery website is pretty cool, it didn't have anything about the pipeline on there, but it opened a new mystery, on the topographic map there is a dot that is labeled oil well, not near the pipeline, but something to go look for next time I'm out there.

S219, they do have an online GIS, but only the most current imagery, and no mention of any pipelines.

Mac, like I said, I am not sure how big it is. I don't think it is very big. I will try and find out from my BIL who was out there when they uncovered it.
