I believe installing a new switch requires removing the cover plate doesn't it? Last word on the subject.
The purpose of the cut wires has already been described accurately twice in this thread. THe cut wires and underlying switch can be tested with an ohm meter without the bother of removing the transmission cover. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense for an admitted 'tractor illiterate' to engage in recreational disassembly.
Not sure who brought up #55.. but it's not part of the NS start system..
I brought up #55. It is part of the NS Start System on the 6 speed trans. Your part numbers are for an 8 Speed Trans. I didn't see in his first post where he mentioned which one it was, so I just looked up the 6 speed.
