I usually dont shop at Napa, but i needed tractor hydraulic oil, a special zerk, which i didnt know the size for, and a bunch of other items. I live in NJ, so its difficult to find these items.

My local "independent" Napa would not honor their online pricing, i had to buy it online, and come back the next day. i was looking at on sale mobile 1, so they had it on the shelf.

Even just their normal prices seemed excessive. im a diyer, so i dont shop at Napa often. Any recommendations to get cheaper pricing at Napa

The higher prices is most likely because it is an independent NAPA. Our local independent NAPA on most things is actually lower priced than the Autozone or O'Reilly's and a heck of a lot more knowledgeable about what they sell and what you want when asking for a part. I do almost all my business with them now and since we have gotten to know each other so well sometimes I get a little extra discount.

I quit shopping at ours long ago, even though it's conveniently located. Once inside, not so convenient. Nothing on display was priced- you have to ask at the counter. Then, the price seemed dependent on what type of an account you have there, if any. No account = no discount.

I sold parts as a kid - early 70's - and we kept a 10 box of lamps (bulbs) that we sold out of, so some were, say, $.45.
Now, every little lamp I buy is single wrapped at $4.95 or so.
I'm sure it make no sense to the NAPA marketing guy, but I kinda expect to be treated like a repeat customer, not a let's-screw-him-while-he's-here oportunity.

Around here I have O'reilly, Advance Auto, NAPA, Walmart, and Tractor Supply all within walking distance of each other. NAPA is the highest priced of all of them. I get a discount at Advance Auto. Just about anyone does if you ask. Also there is a Runnings store about 15 miles from me. Runnings also has the largest store with a very good selection. Lots of places to get the items you needed. For hydraulic oil I usually wait till Runnings or Tractor Supply has a sale and save up to $10 on a 5 gallon pail.

Your other option may be to shop online for your items. A lot of places offer free shipping when price is over a certain $ amount.

The local NAPA has been good enough to me, I'm glad to have them here...

Our local Napa is very accommodating. Two price tiers...walk up counter 40% off retail wholesale jobber with tax # 50% off. They make hydraulic lines on site in an hour if they aren't busy. Also participate in all Napa promos including rotella t6 sales. Napa gold filters are wix premium line. Very knowledgeable counter help. Real asset to the area. Order by 10am and arrives by 2pm same day. Very good operators that own the store.

I always found NAPA to be very expensive compared to auto zone etc etc. And rock auto blows them all out of the water.!

Maybe things have changed but, I doubt it.

A friend years ago owned a small service station. Anybody remember them? You could buy gas or have your car repaired, at the same place. Here’s how he explained it.

NAPA delivers parts to service stations etc. if you call by 9am, you get the parts before noon. Call before 1pm,get the parts on the afternoon delivery run. That relieves the owner from having to stock oil filters etc for 200 different vehicles.

All the NAPA parts are local, if there is a problem, they fix it right now! All warranteed. Buy something from Amazon and go thru the misery associated with their return process!

So, as an owner of a service station etc.........NAPA will stock parts for you, warrantee those parts, deliver those parts to you in a timely matter and most important.....extend credit.

That all costs $$$$$

Example

Fuel pump for 2005 dodge mini van ( vehicle of distinction)

Auto zone, 1 choice, $175.00, made by our friends in the east.

Rock auto, 6 different choices ranging from $40 to $80. (Probably from China)

NAPA, over $200. ( from China?). I bet!

Not sure but I bet they all come from the east, the Far East.

For fun, search the same model windshield wipers on NAPA, Autozone and rockauto.

Hard rain here 4 of last 7 days so, sequestered again.

Wait until inflation ratchets up the cost of everything by a factor of 3 to 5 (except income). Printing trillions of dollars without backing or earned value will probably wipe out the tractor market. "Used JD 318 mower. Needs a deck belt. As is: $10,000". FCFS, POOS. Will trade for shotgun and a box of shells.

Is this still available ?

I have used RockAuto a few times and the prices are fine on most things until you add the shipping. Most of the time I can get what I want for the same or less by purchasing locally (generally at NAPA) and have it in hand now not a week from now. Plus if there is any issue with the parts it is MUCH easier and faster to get it corrected which is good since generally time is an issue.
