I like NAPA but you can get coupons for Advance Auto Parts and buy online and pickup at the store..........

Our closest NAPA closed so I rarely use them. That said I have always used their cheapest brake pads on my truck and they have been great even for towing.

They occasionally have stuff I can't find anywhere else. I bought some main bearings for a 351 from them and a chrome exhaust tip that was small enough to fit my JD pipe.

Their prices have slowly creeped up and no longer an advantage to go there. Most dealer filters are close in price now and better quality.

If you go and check out NAPA prices online often I find that they have a cheaper line but don't stock it. But they do stock the more expensive line. So now before I go to the NAPA store I check out what they have available online before I even go to the store.

It's true that at times Rockauto is more expensive with the freight but if you pay attention and buy several items at a time so that they can combine shipping then Rockauto is often quite a bit cheaper. For eg. I can buy one set of brake pads or if I need them, two sets. Shipping is the same either way.

As for waiting I can often have parts shipped from the states in about 5 days. They show up at my local post office. Plan ahead and life is good.

The last time I bought parts from Rockauto the parts were in different locations in their system and they charged for shipping from EACH location. The last order in made with them was significant and they charged shipping for 3 locations. That is what burned me for using them. Everyone should use what works for them and if Rockauto works for you great, Rockauto certainly quit working for me at that point, wasn't my fault they couldn't ship all the parts from one location.

When you do your order it shows from which shipping location each part is coming from (a b c d etc). It's up to you to select subsequent parts from the same location as you add them to your order. This doesn't work for all parts but you can significantly reduce the cost of the order by at times not selecting the necessarily cheapest part but selecting one from a common shipping point. You might pay a bit more for the part but you more than make it up in the shipping. I usually order anywhere's from $300 - $700 + worth of parts at a time. I can't go to the states to pick up the parts so if I pay attention to which parts I order I can cut freight costs by several hundred dollars at times. At that point NAPA or any body else in Canada can't come close to the price.

My point was they should have one shipping fee and not be billing me multiple shipping fees because they do not stock it all in one location, there was no option for other selections from the same location on that order. As I said if they provide service you are satisfied with great, use em'.

The NAPA and Bumper-to-bumper guys are a good source of information and are willing to help. For that reason I'm willing to pay extra there. :drink:

I usually dont shop at Napa, but i needed tractor hydraulic oil, a special zerk, which i didnt know the size for, and a bunch of other items. I live in NJ, so its difficult to find these items.

My local "independent" Napa would not honor their online pricing, i had to buy it online, and come back the next day. i was looking at on sale mobile 1, so they had it on the shelf.

Even just their normal prices seemed excessive. im a diyer, so i dont shop at Napa often. Any recommendations to get cheaper pricing at Napa
To get jobber, Frank, just next time you're in Napa tell them it's for Frank's Tractor Repair.
As far as individual shipping, items from different locations when I was in business I always said I wanted order shipped complete.
