Getting to the nitty gritty. Like the slightly bigger overall size of the Massey for the majority of my jobs. (5 acres, no mowing, lots of use with the FEL dirt and wood chips and some digging with the backhoe) 3 acres in woods where the smaller BX could move around maybe a little better. PS - I don't like the seat on the MF 1710 but not willing to pay a grand more for the better seat on the 1720.
The MF is $2500 less than the BX which is important to me - but will the MF hold its value as well as the BX and not eat up the $$ difference over the years. Dealers are equal since its the same dealer for both.

One last comment - I like the Deere 1025R a lot, but despite several calls to the two JD dealers in my area, I can't get a quote. I hate having to beg a company to sell me something.

Thank you all for your help

I didn't look into the MF as much as the JD and Kubota offerings as the area MF dealers were not willing to work with me. The local guy required I buy it, before looking at a unit and wouldn't give me a final price, until the unit arrived.

You get more than a seat for $1,000, right, on upgraded the MF? Don't you get more horsepower (and higher RPM), protectors over the flashers, and a couple of other things?

I believe the BX FEL bucket is larger than the BX, but I wouldn't put too much money on it!

If you can wait six months, the BX is getting a needed redesign. There are a lot of really great features coming, with it. See this thread: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-buying-pricing/370551-bx80-series-announced.html

From everything I've seen, you can't go wrong with the MF, BX, or JD offerings.

I agree with nikerret's comment ...can't go wrong with any of the three mentioned. I have a MF and love it..as do all the MF guys on here.. but same for the BX guys I'm sure. I didn't look at lift capacities but assume you did along with actual weight of the equipment, those matter for what your doing. Compare the numbers and if they are the same go with the one you just like better.. something to be said for that. I don't know the stats on the resale difference between the two but a MF is still a very desirable and well respected used tractor; at least on this site.

Whatever you choose from what you described you want to do with it get the tires loaded.

A bx and a gc1700 series are good units. The gc1710 or gc1720 have greater fel lift numbetss than the bx by a fair amount (dl95 loader versions) and the mf insurance is really a heck of a deal (my gc1715 for 5 years of coverage was $285.00).

3 pt included with MF and attached with backhoe on. Gc1715 and gc1720 are 25 hp.

Both bx and mf have forward flow cooling of engine which is really nice for operator and keeping engine area cleaner.

Lots of other advantages like hydro cooling fan placement and loader use at lower rpms. And if you want mulching for mowing . . Only mf has a true mulching deck with 6 blades.

Either will serve you well.

What they said, we own BX and JD 1025R and looked at the MF, all good machines with the BX80 Series coming out. I'm not sure which one I would pick if I was buying new right now if it was to be my only tractor. I'm looking forward to the BX80 Series, but first year models concern me.

Based on my experience, I'd probably get the 1025R, but just don't know for sure.

Unless you cant wait 6 months, I think I would wait to see what the new Kubota model is like and the pricing. At that time, the old BX should be on clearance just like cars when the new models come out.
I cant comment on the choice as I know nothing about those models. I do know that Kubota tractors hold their value really well. I cant say about the MF since around me, you don't see many of them at work nor are there more than 1 dealer within 100 miles of me. I internet shopped and was ready to buy a 1652 with cab till I actually sat on one and just couldn't make the ergonomics work for me. That has been my only dealing with MF. I never really looked at the small stuff.
