Tractor Sizing Narrowed my decision down to a 2820D p/s and 2210D both with loaders

I'll be getting the JD. out this weekend. Grading and BB. a Gravel Dr. It's 55hp. with a FEL. I've used it for over 8yrs. 0n 35 acres and with that being said I know how well a FEL. works on it. And still to the day I won't even consider a FEL. on my Ym2000. It's basically the same as the 2210 just 2 eng. hp. Less. That's probably not even noticeable unless your working it to it's Max. Capability's. And Still Doubtful esp. if it has the P.shift Trans. It's not designed for a FEL. 4wd. or 2wd. IMO. It's comical to see the way there built. Just in the Front End. And a lot of reasons that people prefer the 4wd on the Yanmar's isn't just for Traction it's how the Front End is built. Your see! The JD. is only 2wd. also In Ga. I've never needed 4wd. or even gotten it stuck for that matter. I'm Orig from WV. lived in OH. and MD. In VA. and the Winter snow the 4Wd. is a big plus and almost a necessity. But the Ym2000 really shines with the 5.FM, 4.BH. and a Tiller that I really enjoy using it. P steering on the JD a must. I lost over 40 per. of my R arm. so a lot of movement is difficult. so again if your using Fel. P. steerings a big plus. :2cents:

I read somewhere on here that you got a different trailer, but i wasent sure what was what trailer.
I think thats a different trailer than the one you had when i met you. I was thinking you had a tandem axle back then.

:D I believe your right. Just a few threads back I posted a old pic. that had it in. Never used it much so I took this one on trade and $ for it. CL. from someone over your way. When he measured it with the gate up and knowing the length with the FM. I new it would fit. 2 bolts and lift the rear wheels and it's Perfect. The old Dove tail was nice but the 12.5' footer is so much easier to use. 3500lb axle so I'm well with the weight limit. With the mower I believe I'm around 2400Lbs. We both were happy on that deal.

Forget a 2210 without PS if you will use the loader very much. My use of the loader on the YM240 (YM2000) is very occasional and its a PIA if I'm carrying any substantial weight.

I will say that mine is not ideal steering with the manual setup but very doable. The difference might be that I have my rear tires loaded and usually have something on the three point for counter weight.

I can tell you those loaders are great (when readjusted from factory setting).. I re adjusted mine from the factory setting.. My rears are full of water, I have the BB on with additional weight added to the BB... I can still lift the rear end off the ground with a big log in the grapple..

My single axle (yes, I did say single) is a 3800lb rating. The trailer is square tubing vs. the angle iron type. Plus the front hitch runs all the way under the trailer to the rear axle to ensure heavy loads are manageable.

I drove the van rated at 8,800lb towing down with the YM2610 and came back home with the YM2610 and a box blade from Fredricks. The trip was just over 3-hours, but I only did 60mph and not 75 like the traffic around me was doing. The trailer still had plenty of axle leaf room for additional weight to haul, but i was happy otherwise.

I too would agree with sizing up a trailer for the tractor and a little more room for box blade or rear mower just in case. Why make two trips. ;)

I've been doing a lot of research, read all the threads I could find and have narrowed my decision down to a 2820D and 2210D both with loaders from Fredericks.

Did you also look at the 2420D and 2610D? The YM2610D uses the 3T80 engine found in the JD750, JD850 and JD900HC. The YM2500, YM1802, YM1820 and YM2002 has it too. The YM2820 has the 3T84 that has it's foundations from the 3T80 that I had read on a Japan website last year.

The YM2210D has 26Hp 2-cly w/PwrSft & FEL $9,994 (good for the 800 PS option, less Hp)
The YM2420D has 29Hp 3-cly w/PwrSft & FEL $11,294 (+800 PS makes this the sweet spot)
The YM2610D has 31Hp 3-cly w/PwrSft & FEL $11,694 (not cost effective for adding the 800 PS)
The YM2820D has 31Hp 3-cly w/PwrSft & FEL $12,694 (smart w/PS included)

I would concur with California, get the PS as an add-on or OE one whatever model you pick. Money well spent. AND it boosts resell if you ever had to do that. Not many of the older tractors had PS as original equipment.

I agree great advice...thanks. I did look at the 2420D; also a great option... none available currently. Can anyone chime in on the reliability of the factory power steering? Will it be hard to repair/replace if I have trouble down the road since there are not many around? parts availability?

Thats good got rid of something you didnt need and got a suitable replacement and some cash in the pocket to go with it, sounds like a deal to me.

I know i saw california tow his 240 on a TINY trailer behind the car, that looks like a scary ride to me!! With the load i have described above with my tractor and implements behind my ancient 30 year old half ton it can be an interesting ride to say the least!

I would guess with the after market kits that you could fab something up if you could no longer get OE parts?
