NASCAR Race to the Chase

Take a look at Filson, out of Washington State.

Found out about them when I was up in Idaho.

If you want "real" work wear that you can't even wash, look at their "tin cloth" material. Just be prepared to sweat in the summer months if you wear it. They have been indestructable (sp?) for me, and I have actually used them on a regular basis.

Have one of their wool coats as well.

GREAT products, but you pay a price for them.

Really!? Can you buy them on the net? I love Carhartts because with a couple hundred acres of property, once I finish with my real job, I'm in work clothes and I'm hard on them. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

They ran Indy cars at Infineon/Sears Point raceway. It is a road course. One main straight-away is used for a drag strip too. Nascar was the for the Dodge Savemart 300 a couple months ago.

How do you have the time to work on a couple hundred acres and have the time for a "real" job! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I only have 40 acres and even with three weeks of vacation, can't get half of what I want done (but I do have a hour commute:)

By the way, yes, you can buy Filson on the "net" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Sig, Filson is GREAT stuff. I like it better than Orvis but I probably own a lot more Orivs stuff. Orvis it top quality, a 10 out of 10. Filson is 11!!!

I don't watch NASCAR much anymore (as I posted earlier). This thread got me to thinking so I watched todays race (the first of the 10 to the Cup chase) just to see what all went on. A lot of things happened today that will, I'm sure, improve NASCAR's ratings, but did little to improve my outlook on the sport. If you didn't see it, you're better off, if you want to see some of the details, I'm sure you can see plenty of it on the NASCAR show tomorrow night at 7:00 (central) on Speed Channel.

Tony Stewart even reverted to his old self today, finished second after a good clean pass by Ryan Newman, and Stewart was pouting. Gotta love it.

No more NASCAR for me.

I, too, as posted earlier am somewhat disenchanted with NASCAR. However, I went to today's race and it was the best one I've seen in some time. It was kind of a throw-back, with aggressive driving, a lot of door-to-door through the field and in general a pretty good show. Especially for a race at NH, traditionally a mind-numbingly boring place to watch a race.

I disagree with your comment about Stewart. I don't think he was pouting because Newman passed him clean. He was likely upset that he completely dominated the race, but due to a mishap where Earnhardt Jr. was pitting and Stewart didn't realize it, there was pretty heavy contact which likely cost him the win. I think he was dissapointed with the result, not upset with a clean pass near the end.

No doubt that's why Stewart was unhappy, it really had nothing to do with the final pass for the win. But, unlike most of the other competitors, he couldn't just say something and then congratulate the winner. He had to stick the lip out and basically refuse to be interviewed. Its been proven many many times over the years, the best car doesn't always win the race. Even Kurt Busch had the class to congratulate the other drivers and say that he hopes what happened to him doesn't happen to them. Stewart still needs to grow up, but I doubt it will ever happen.

Glad you enjoyed the race. It wasn't typical NH.

I've been a Cup fan for over 20 years and wholeheartedly agree the best often doesn't win. That was certainly the case today, although at about lap 150, I turned to the one of the guys I went with and told him I thought Newman was the only one that had anything for Stewart.

I have a little different take on Stewart, although I'll concede I'm of a minority opinion. I don't see why a guy is obligated to act happy when he isn't. I don't think AJ used to act happy when he wasn't. A young Dale Earnhardt didn't act happy when he wasn't. David Pearson, Junior Johnson, etc. weren't always nice guys. Why is Stewart (or any other driver) held to this corporate, flash your smile, be nice, standard. Did anyone complain when the Allison's got in a fistfight with Cale Yarborough in the infield in Daytona? Or the countless other altercations of the past? Drivers are supposed to be aggressive, competitive, and in the old days of Winston Cup, sometimes ruthless and mean. In my opinion, this change in Cup racing is not for the better. I know others will disagree.

Bob,
I have never watched a Nascar race either. I keep that a secret around here, because you are not a real man unless you are a Nascar nut around here. I do admit to having watched part of a couple races though, from peer pressure. But I did not inhale /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
