First, I am new to the forum. New land owner of about 42 half wooded acres.

Second, I am looking for a good Kubota dealer in NE PA near near Scranton.

Finally, I have decided on the L3901 for abut 10 acres of brush/wild flower mowing (about twice a year), general brush and other woods debris removal, New trail clearing, hobby gardening and snow removal. This will be my first tractor purchase so I'm open to any and all advice on that decision.

Messicks isn't that far down the road in Lancaster, and really nice people, too. The 3901 is a great tractor, but load the tires and add wheel weights... you will need them.

And the PA Farm Show is just right around the corner. Equivalent of a car show for tractor fans. Worth the trip from Scranton

You have a well known Kubota dealer right near you, Home F & S Supply Company, Inc. Dickson City, PA (8) 675-9. Don't know how they are to do business with. I have never dealt with them.

Timberline Lawn & RV, Inc. in Montrose, PA is the Kubota dealer I do business with. Just a short trib a little nothwest of Scrancton. New Kubota Models For Sale in Montrose, PA TIMBERLINE LAWN & RV, INC. Montrose, PA (57) 278-2888.

A family owned dealership great to deal with. That is where I purchased my new L5060 GST tractor from this past Spring.

While Messicks may be good, they are a long way from you and transportation and shipping costs of parts can really add up. And dealer service is something to consider. I am not knocking Messicks. I would have dealt with them if I lived closed by.

Bought an excavator from them - They are great to deal with and were fair and honest.

Thanks Oldoak. I am actually North of Scranton anyway. The place in Dickson City just looked like a where house. I’ll have to checkout the Montrose dealer and the farm show (thank you ZTMAN).

Load the tires with foam? Advice and more information here is welcome too.

I started looking at wheel weights mostly for roll stability because I have about 5 acres of slope I need to mow. I’ll do some loader stuff but don’t see myself going far with a full load of anything. I even considered the MX but want the smaller tractor for getting into the woods to make/clear a trail.

The PA farm show is AWFUL. The VASTLY better one is the Keystone farm show in York. It runs over the same dates.

We'd be glad to help, we regularly sell and service within a 5-6 hour drive. Your well within our service area.

All other things being equal, (and they're not), I'd seriously consider Messick's. Last time I ordered parts by phone, they had the part number ready before I could get out my credit card. Their videos online are great and they give good advice here on TBN. Hard to imagine any part of their operation being halfazzed.

I have never bought a tractor from Messick's.
That said: I have bought parts (Ford) from Messick's, and they are incredibly helpful people.
I live 450 miles from Messick's, but I would drive there to buy a tractor from them, if I needed a new one.
Messick's is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST !!!
