Regarding tracpone. When buying time there are minutes and days. Unless you make a lot of calls the days expire long before you use up the minutes. The minutes do carry over when you buy more time. So when buying time watch for this. Also tracphone has special offers from time to time so you have to watch that too to get the most bang for the buck.

Good stuff, thanks. The only thing I'd ever use if for is 911 or a tow truck so minutes are what I'm after.

Sigh ... I sometimes wonder if I'm the only human left on the planet who does not own a cell phone. I just try to be super careful, for what that's worth.

You're not. I'm a semi-Luddite too, and I work in I.T. for a living. Of course that might just be a reaction to being on-call all the other times.

I try to keep a cell phone on tractor at all times because I work alone on 25 acre property we have. Used to keep it on a belt clip, but lost it when mowing a few years ago. Had to use wife's phone walk property while call my number to find it. Not sure if you got hurt real bad you could get to tractor to use it. So far never needed it and hope it stays that way. I sure understand how fast things can go bad !!!

I should try to explain this better. You buy minutes but they are only good for so many days of service. For example you may buy 120 minutes but they are only good for 90 days. After 90 days you need to buy more time. You still have the minutes but can not use them because the days of service have expired.

So what you really want is days.

Around here they collect regular old cell phones to give to battered women . Even if the phone is not on a contract 911 or a similar number still works.

I love this forum. Start out talking about a limb to the head and end up talking about cel phone minutes. This is what makes TBN such a great source of information.

Reminds me of a friend's joke that he always makes sure he has his cellphone with him when he reaches inside his operating round baler, in case he gets his arm caught he can call for help with the other arm.

Joke of course, he doesn't do that.

Friend of mine told me a story about cutting a big tree during windy day. Thay wanted to fell it more or less against the wind so they tied a rope to the top, hook that up to a pickup and tensioned the rope. When the tree was cut it fell downwind pulling the pick up like a kids toy and missing his father just by a foot.

When people are stupid they don't know they are stupid. I wonder if that guy ever tried to hold a sheet of plywood up in the wind. There is a lot of force applied to a tall tree in a strong wind.
