Yanmar ym2210BD / 1947 Ford 8n
I purchased a ym2210BD a few weeks ago and I've been doing all the basic (fluid, filters, oil) services I can think of. In doing so, I ordered a new fuel filter bowl and filter that does NOT fit (original was missing). I know I can order a new assembly from Hoye but would like to identify this one and just order the correct bowl and filter for it.

would you REALLY like to mix and match parts of unknown origin??..

When I got my YM2002D and was likewise doing all the basic maintenance and fluid changes, I ordered the set of 3 fuel filters from Hoye. When they came in, I learned the hard way that there are 2 different filter lengths for Yanmars. I was sent the longer one, but my tractor had the short bowl on it.
Is your issue a similar one?

That's the same housing STYLE that's on my JD 1070 (Yanmar equipped). There are two of them on my tractor. A larger diameter one back by the fuel tank and a smaller one up front on the right side of the motor. My JD dealer had them in stock. Filters, too.

Take it to a dealer and have them get show you the bowl and filter parts they have. EBay is probably another source.

If you go to a JD dealer, do not give them your yanmar tractor info. Use the John Deere 1070 or 1050 model number for them to reference.
Or search for a bowl for a JD fuel filter on ebay.

Radios1, not really wanting to mix and match but I hate to waste money and good parts if I don't have too.

CoyPatton, I believe so. The filter and bowl I received were too large of a diameter to fit the assembly I have so the previous owner has at some point replaced it with one from a different tractor. The bowl was busted so he had an inline filter in it's place.

Zzvyb6 and CoyPatton, thanks for that info guys. I will visit the my local JD dealer in the morning.

I also ran into a similar problem on a Mitsubishi.
The filter/bowl was simply not to be found.
Bowls, yes but too long and hit a casting but short filters no joy.
For some reason my bowl was heat warped and I could not use proper filters.

What I did is to relegate the existing bowl to a water separator (added a drain valve) and cut and added an in line filter.
That was many years back and so far works very well for me.

You gotta do what u gotta do.

The YM2000 and the YM2210 uses the same FF.. Here is the NAPA.# for that Fuel Filter. 3262. On the Fuel Bowl you also use the same US. version of the YM2000 Which is the YM240. JD. sold back in the day so they're have that or can get it.......... Is that a 2210 or 2000. Fuel Filter assembly? The hose connections are at a angle I noticed so that may not be correct.....? Take it with you.

Careyo63, your right, it is not the correct filter assembly for my ym2210bd but I didn't realize the difference until I had already ordered my parts. So now I am hoping someone can identify this particular design so I can order the correct parts for it. I'm going to a JD dealer today to see if they have one. Thanks for info.

Carey063 is correct, take the top portion of the filter assembly with you. Since your issue is diameter. My yanmar assembly filter will turn 180 degrees and is not labeled ‘O’ & ‘C’.

Here are the filter housings and bowls for my 1070 from the JD parts sitefuel filters.JPG. These are the same as was on my Yanmar 220D. Larger 1 at the tank is a water separator I believe. The other is a fuel filter. They look the same but different sizes and completely different part numbers. Be sure to get the seals and preload springs, too. I hope this helps.

Depending on your JD dealer. DO NOT mention it's a yanmar they may not sell you parts. I had a JD dealer here that didn't care, as long as I was paying with green !

I have used JD. on many occasions. A Fredricks Refurb YM2500-JD850. YM2000-JD,YM240. and a JD5103. Delt with and used a few dealers in my my area over the Yrs. for that matter. Since early 2008. Never had the first problem esp. since it was a JD/Yanmar models... Now any yanmar model could be a problem esp. not Dist. by them. Plus the UTDA BS. days everyone stayed clear of any Imported Yanmar. There was a few Dealers but the're all gone now. Spalding in Ga. is about the only one I ever see advertise. Both the 2000 and the 2500 came from there.

Well I guess I have an oddball filter assembly because the JD dealer tried several different bowls and filters that were John Deere & Yanmar but couldn't find one that fit so I guess I'll be ordering the whole new assembly from Hoye. Thanks for all the input and info guys.

Your close to Hoye. And you have Fredrick who's not much further away. Won't be much on shipping. I have Spalding within a Hr. or so drive but I'll still wait the day to ship it. Hoye here to Ga. wasn't but a day if I recall. It was quicker than I thought. Plus your get the correct Part. Who knows what that Filter Assembly came off of.??

Napa makes 2 filters for that tractor, a 3262 & 3263 one is short and 1 is long.
The bowls are plastic and they brake sooner or later.. You could just order a new plastic bowl and filter from Hoye tractor.

Or take it to the Napa counter and ask for both and go from there...

He has ordered a new bowl. The diameter is different from his housing. The best suggestion any of had to offer was try JD for a correct diameter bowl. That was a failure.
