Need A/C pressure readings for 5740C recharge

RickB,

With all due respect my friend, my Montana tractor has had no more problems than a "name brand" tractor and cost me about $10,000.00 less when I bought it compared to ANY of the major name brands. Believe me, I shopped around too! In fact, it was the first tractor in the Montana line that Cody, at A Tractor in Springtown, Tx. sold and his dealer papers were completed that same day. My Montana 5740C also came equiped with hydraulic connections in the back that everyone else wanted to charge me extra for. I'll admit that the manual had/has a lot to be desired, but all in all, I'm very satisfied with my Montana 5740C and I'd buy another one. There's not one tractor manufacturer out there that puts out a "perfect" tractor, that won't have any problems. I'll also admit the Montana dealer situation isn't the best, but with the 4 cylinder Mitsubishi diesel engine mine's got compared to a 3 cylinder diesel the rest had in this horsepower, plus all the other features, it's a fine tractor and not some side off brand. I just wish there was a Montana dealer closer to me since Cody isn't a dealer anymore.

So you have zero dealer support, and a factory service manual that doesn't list the A/C charge quantity or have a temp/pressure chart. I don't have to comment on the machine itself, nor did I.
And yet the most helpful response you have so far is mine.

RickB,

My Montana is a 2005 model, so it has been out of the warranty for quite some time now anyway. Admittedly, the original manual on the tractor wasn't the best, to be sure. As far as dealer support goes, once the factory warranty has expired, they're all the same....EXPENSIVE to get repaired.

In my case, I figure with the price comparison figures I gave you regarding the initial price I paid for this tractor. I'm at least $10,000.00 ahead to start with. Besides, when a person doesn't have a trailer to taxi his/her tractor back and forth to any dealer's location, it's basically an even playing field no matter what brand or manufacturer the tractor comes from. Thankfully, I have some friends and a son in law who are familiar with diesel engines and the mechanics of one to help me when it's needed.

I thank you too for what you suggested in your previous posts in answer to my question about pressure readings.

When my son in law came out to recharge the A/C system, the pressure read very high, so we figured that some air got into the system. As a result, he then got the vacumn and vacumned the lines completely out and then refilled it with freon from scratch. I'm very happy to say that it now blows very cold again.

I want to thank everyone who responded to my question about the pressure settings etc. As Gene Autry used to sing, "I'm back in the saddle again" and it's a cold saddle, thank goodness!!

Y'all have a GREAT day!

So you have a factory service manual that doesn't give basic repair info and zero dealer support. I didn't have to pass judgement on the machine itself.

send me a e-mail and i will send you a service manual for that in a PDF form send to montanabarry@gmail i am a service manger for a dealer in calif

tractorbarry,

Thank You in advance!! I didn't read your post until today, Monday, because I was out mowing the pastures, trying to beat this rain, all day yesterday and Saturday. E-Mail is on the way for PDF. The rain got here overnight and almost all my pastures had been mowed.

Are we talking the same chart ?, a refrigerant pressure/temperature chart ?

Refrigerant P/T chart example ;

Your link works, but I could not get the file to load. The charts I refer to would offer a narrow range of high side operating pressure as compared to a given ambient temperature. Many OEM tractor repair manuals written for units with cab and A/C as standard or optional equipment have such information. Almost all manuals for the brand I work with (NH) include this info.
