MAJMAC392, Thanks for the tractor link on used prices. I'm sure by now everyone here knows that I am going tractor crazy trying to find the best deal I can on a used machine. I'll probably be bald by the time I figure out what to buy. It seems that many people tell stories about the horsepower and such of thier machines. I had a guy tell me his Ford 1620 was a 27 horse motor. The specs I found say it is 22 horse. The price on this Ford is right on the money.w/6' finish mower, hydro and loader.

I do own plenty of tools (ex-mechanic/machinists 30 years) and can handle all of the repairs on whatever I buy. I also buy and fix up used motorcycles when I have some spare time. The price on the 2001 Cub is definitely good for 11.5K. This is leading me to go check this one out. My only problem is with the standard shift. I have a not so good left knee. I will need to check the clutch pedal to see how hard it is to work it.

Again, Thanks guys for all the info. This website reminds me of the collector gun site that I also hang out on. Plenty of friendly people to help out noobs that need info.

Where are you located in MA? I went to Machine Finder's website and put in Boston's zip code as a starting point. I will give Machine Finder's link so you can better refine the search.

Machine Finder

Here is a 2002 New Holland TC29. It has a 7308 loader, 4x4, and hydro. It is $14,900. It has 429 hours, 2 SCVs, and R4s. It looks to be in good condition.

Here is the link:

I hope I could help in some way.

Thanks for the link. Right now I have 12K to work with. Two kids in college is putting a large strain on our budget.

Jim, I think we all understand they money situation on what you have decided to spend on a tractor. I'm not sure of your needs as far as HP, etc but here are a couple of other things to think about. If you haven't looked in an Uncle Henrys it is a good source to check prices. I'll probably get blackballed for saying this on the Cub area but the Chad Little John Deere dealer in Brunswick, Maine had the JD 4110 in last weeds Uncle Henrys for $11,495 w/loader and weight box. That is a smaller tractor than you have been talking about but it is in the price range and it would be new. I would suspect no sales tax where you live in MA as well. The other thing you might consider is looking at the Jinma, Chinese, import. From what I read on this and other sites it doesn't have many frills but is a tuff unit.

Like MAJMA, I'm not sure about your HP requirements. But I think Kioti is a really good value in the CK20. It is 21HP and comes in a hydro tranny. I think you could find a new one with a loader for around 12K. They are nice machines. Here is the link to the CK20:

If you wanna look some more here is the links to some other search sites:

Hope this helps.

Last summer I used my neighbors Kubota 1700 w/loader to work on my barn. The machine was a little small for what we were doing. I really think the 27-30 horse tractor is my best bet. I am going to look at the 2001 7300 Cub on Sunday and try it out. I may also check out the Ford 1620 on my way home. Thanks again for the links and suggestions. Oh, the thought of hitting megabucks.

Today I took the 7300 for a test run. My knee cannot handle the clutch for long. So I will definitely have to go with a Hydro unit. If anyone is interested in this unit email me. I'll send you the phone number for it. It is located near Albany N.Y. The tractor runs nice and is in excellent condition. Asking price is 12.5K. He also has the manuals with it. The tractor is definitely a powerhouse compared to my neighbors 1700 Kubota. It was also much bigger than I imagined. The size is just above what I am looking for. Now if I can just find a used hydro near me for a resonable price.

I also met Larry in northen CT. on my way home. He has a REAL machine. A Quite large and fully loaded Mahindra. It was nice meet you Larry.

(The search goes on)
