Need a torque multiplier to get to 425#

The HF 3/4" only goes to 300# 3/4" Torque Wrench
It may be possible to use a fish scale to apply 50# at 8.5' using a long cheater or just use a generous esimate. If you get the nut good and snug, then pay attention to the "turns of the nut" required to get the measured torque, you can use that number of turns in the future and not worry about measuring torque.

If I look up RB5060 I get a rear scrape blade.
This might be the manual. On page 23 they show the ideal tool to achieve 425 ft-lb. :D

Ever look at the torque spec for your trailer hitch ball?

Making a torque extension to multiply torque is not that difficult. I make them all the time; on the cheap. I just adjusted my valve clearance on my Dodge Ram Diesel. I made an extension to torque the lock nut. I didn't need the extension to multiply torque but more to have access to the nut so I could torque it.

You need to look at the torque wrench you are using for max torque and handle length. Then you can make the extension to fit your needs. Using the attached torque calculator, I figured that using an 18" torque wrench that has a max torque of 250 ft/lbs you would need a 16 inch extension. You set the torque wrench to 225 ft/lbs to get a 425 ft/lbs torque.

I used this procedure to torque some aircraft propeller bolts. They required something like 600 ft/lbs I think. I recheck during inspection.

The extension in the article requires some welding. You may be able to get by with a long combination wrench and a bolt adapter. That is how I make most of mine. Occasionally I may braze or weld for something special. For occasions, like my valve adjust, where you just need some access you can have the extension form a right angle with the torque wrench and just use the applicable torque with no multiplier. Just keep the right angle during torque application.

Brad blazer, i guess HF dropped the one like i have. Mine torques to 600 ft lbs. Its one of a very small number of HF tools i have that dont suck.

Auto Zone loans tools. I was going to go that way when I needed a 3/4" torque wrench but a friend said he could get one from a mechanic friend of his, so I did that.

If you really want to get 425 ft-lbs then a torque multiplier with a 4:1 planetary gear set and a torque wrench set to 106 ft-lbs is the right way to get it. The next best thing is a air wrench set to ~400-450 ft-lbs. Hammer on it until it moves no more. Most shops I've watched do it this way because it's faster. You'll need a real impact socket or you'll split a standard one.

That's a great web page Thanks. The calculation on the extension is straightfoward. But there's a great example of splitting a socket driver extension in two to produce an extension bar for a torque wrench. Good advice such as stripping the chrome before welding.

You are thinking too much into it.

Get a pipe, and pull. IF its a 4' pipe, pull with about 100# of force.

IF its an 8' pipe, about 50# of force.

IT dont have to be perfect.
