Tractor
L4760 & BX24
I have spent weeks and weeks reading post after post in these forums and have decided to just toss out my question since each recommendation made is specific to the user (the post by inneedoftractor was the closest yet) - and then draw from the wisdom (opinions) of the posts... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have 1 acre at home - where this proposed tractor will be living most of it's life... Here are the jobs it has on it's slate after it comes home with me:
* Remove many stumps
* Dig over 50 post-holes
* Move lots of topsoil with FEL for landscaping
* Break up and move over 300 cubic feet of concrete
* Fill in 40 x 20 gunite in-ground pool (includes using HB to "bend the rebar and wire mesh in the gunite)
* Scrape and re-grade 1/2 acre (KEY)
* Till gardens

Now - after all these big things - the tractor will find a steady diet of FEL work and lots of lawn mowing (will be the primary mower). It will also take frequent trips to my 67 acre land to mow paths, a yard around the cabin and some other things - but that land has it's own JD 4310.

My question is - what is the "right" tractor for the above list of things on the 1 acre? What are the right tires? What are the right attachments? Understanding that it will be a mower when the list is completed... and have some "tight" spaces to navigate with mowing.

I'll take a shot at this one. I think it would be more economical to rent a small backhoe/loader, doe the heavy work, then buy something that will meet your everyday needs. You could look at the BX24, CK20, etc. The short term need you have would not justify buying a large unit and transport cost (larger truck/trailer) would not be needed. I am sure you will get plenty of good advice and better advice on this board. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would agree with renting something to do the big stuff. Get it done, and then buy what you need to maintain the property.

Welcome to TBN.
Since you're read inneedoftractor's post, then you already know that a compact tractor backhoe is going to take you a while to get "many stumps" dug out, especially if they are pines or other trees with tap roots. I have spent as many as 15 hours to dig out one large pine stump, and multiple hours each on many more.

I'm a little confused at this sentence:
( It will also take frequent trips to my 67 acre land to mow paths, a yard around the cabin and some other things - but that land has it's own JD 4310. )

If it has its own JD, why would you need to trailer the new tractor out there? Also, why not bring the JD to do the larger jobs, rent an excavator to get out all the stumps and get a smaller tractor for your everday needs afterward.

My CK20 has been perfect for most of my jobs on 2, 4, and 5 acres properties. It is not too large for 1 acre and you could get a mid mount mower for it unless you also want the backhoe. A Woods backhoe will allow you to use both the MMM and the backhoe, but not the kioti BH.

I don't generally use my tractor to mow my lawn, but I have used my brush hog to do so several times, and I have no rutting issues, but your soil may vary. Some wet soils won't stand up to even a lawn tractor though.

Many posters report their happiness on small properties with the sub cuts such as Massey, NH, Kubota etc. offer. Any of them would probably be good for most of your uses.

If you're going to do a lot on the larger property, these may not be appropriate. I would think that overall, you want something that has good lift capacities and can move some dirt.

Post hole diggers can be tricky on anything under a CUT. Also, make sure the 3 pt hitch control is to your liking. Some of the SCUTs don't have true position control so their hitches are harder to get exactly where you want them. Look for something with position control as opposed to 1/4 inching or no position control at all where you have to lower the hitch and return to neutral manually.

I don't know what to recommend in implements as regards breaking up and moving the concrete. No appropriate attachment comes to mind that would fit on a CUT or SCUT. The moving of course would be the loader, and there cometh the need for good lift capacity, leading me back to a CK20 Kioti.
For it's size, it pretty much beats the caps. of most competitors.

I know I haven't been much help here, sorry.
