The 10bu size will hold up to 1000# of pelletized fertilizer or lime. Your 30hp tractor might get a little light in the steering with half a ton on the back though. But even with an agitator extension, a full load of powdered lime is too much for the puny little transmissions. If you intend to spread powdered lime, make sure you get the agitator extension. Then fill the hopper a little at a time, till you find out (a) how much the agitator can handle and (b) how much the tractor can safely lift.
The low end farm store cone type spreaders are ok for occasional use, but they won't hold up to full time duty. The transmissions are too light. They must also be protected from the elements, as they tend to rust. When not in use, I have mine indoors and covered, plus I keep empty lime bags inside the hopper to absorb moisture. If I had to do it all over again, I'd buy a Baltic B80 spreader, they use stainless steel and sturdy transmissions.

I am with FWJ, Herd has a good reputation but when it comes to the best 3pt spreaders Vicon is miles above the rest. They are not cheap but they will last 40 years of normal use without blinking. 30 years of heavy use.
The best part about the Vicon is that they have an even spread pattern and the seed and fertilizer stay behind the spreader and off the tractor.
