instead of blocking the front of the cutter, you should try and close up the area of your tractor that is alowing things to go through the wheels and fenders to hit you in the legs. I know older tractors leave you wide open to getting hit but if you have a roll bar it can be used to mount a sheild of some kind.

I tried cutting two aluminum panels from a damaged road sign and mounted them between the fenders but they didn't block every missile. It's pretty difficult to rearrange everything around the lift arms to block all that stuff. My yanny is one of the old original (frog green) 1700's and doesn't have any ROP's or other protection. It just seemed to make more sense to do the fabricating on the mower rather than the tractor. We'll see. Thanks for all the good feedback.

I saw someone here use lexan or plaxiglass bolted to the rops to help deflecting snow. That might work for you as well.

Find a piece of used high quality hay baler belting (john deere, Vermeer). If the blades strike it they will simply chew a downward facing C shape out of it but it will work fine. Sandwiching it in place with a piece of 1"channel works great to hold it on and prevent stress points that happen with just using bolts. If you weld a plate of steel across the front that will press the material down below the cutting level of the blades and may cause an unclean cut much like trying to run over tall grass with a lawnmower. If you want to weld a piece of 1 1/2" square tubing across the front of the deck to space the belting away from the blades that could help out as well.

Best of luck,
Heath

I'm on the lookout for a piece of belting that will work. Several farmers are neighbors, so I may luck out and find something nearby. Thanks.

Just so happens that one of my sons manages a TSC store. I'll give him a call to see what he might have on hand. Thanks for the tip.

That happens with our 7' on the 265 MF but there is nothing i can not put over the MOUTH that would not get stripped off when using it in big brush that I ride over.

I did the baler belt for the rear of a Toro that I rode behind. The first time i backed up it cut a gash in it.

King Kutter makes a heavy chain guard that you won't strip off. I don't know what kind of kutter you have but if the bolt holes don't line up you can always weld it on.
