I know this is a old thread. Anyone have tips on getting the new factory belt to fit on the old reliable Mott 72 ? I ordered a factory belt. Is there a trick?

Thanks

Can you get that tensioner pulley (wheel in the middle) to get up out of the way so you can get the belt over the two big wheels first?

thanks Ning. I was able to remove the tensioner pulley and it would still not go over the larger pulleys. The tensioner is removed easily. Thanks for your help.

Mostly they are a tight fit. I mostly use a lever and work the belt on as I turn the pulleys. It really helps to have two people, one to turn everything and the other to work the belt into place.
