Tractor Sizing Need advice on the size of tractor to look for

It looked to me like the operator repeatedly rammed the tractor into an immovable object, perhaps lifting the rear wheels off the ground. At any rate, it bothered me that the vehicle was being used in such a manner...the shiny paint and uncracked windshield are surely no longer so pristine by now! All the giggling reminded me of my grandmother's saying, "he has more money than sense!"

The saplings were not the issue. Those moved easily. Watch the video again and watch the machine shudder as it hits some unidentified object several times while the operator giggles. It occurs right after he moves away from the tree.

I'm not a wimp with my tractor and routinely lift the rear wheels while digging stumps. As you know however FELs on tractors are engineered for lifting, not ramming. Using a CUT as a bulldozer is asking for trouble.
He bumped the tree and backed off. Big deal. Routinely lifting the rear end off the ground probably puts more stress on a tractor then bumping the occasional tree.

No, it's what he did AFTER backing off the tree. Ramming something he couldn't see repeatedly. Maybe it was just a small stump but it could easily have been a hidden boulder or big low stump. Ramming something you cannot identify repeatedly just ain't good practice.

Each thump you see is just a small 1 or 2" tree snapping off. Nothing is jolting the tractor. And nothing is being hit repeatedly. Its a different object snapping each time.

How the heck do you know that???:scratchchin:

Nothing jolting the tractor??? Why is the video bouncing around every time he rams the unseen objects? The video is smooth before.

Bottom line: he's using the tractor to ram into areas of brush and he cannot see what the bucket is impacting. Not good practice unless you have a true bulldozer. Long skinny FEL arms are not engineered to ram.

Proper technique would be to slowly push or use a grapple to dig and lift.

He is going slowly. That tractor would take more abuse digging a hole in the ground than it does pushing that tiny scrub brush over.

Not to mention it makes a mess of the tractor, I've lost count of how many things you've busted off your tractor using like a bulldozer.

And I don't think the OP wants to pay $35000+ for a new NX6010 cab fully featured and ballasted.

Truth be told, the only time I ever dozed was making that video for the pharanna tooth bar which has a sharpened leading edge. 2 minutes. Also, I'm going slow in sandy sphagnum. Nothing holds well in it. If I can damage a loader hitting brush, it cannot scrape the ground either as that would be deemed too hard on the loader. FWIW, I do more bumping using a rotary cutter.

The rest of the junk was damaged by little oak branches that I was told I could not cut out of the way during summer for fear of oak wilt. As a result, I have an up armored tractor that doesn't break.

Because the ground isn't flat and is filled with deep ruts from the skid loaders that logged the land in 1997 that are exaggerated as I hold the camera in my left hand.
