Buying Advice Need advice on tractor

There is a Yanmar 187D for sale locally (Western PA). It has a loader and a backhoe. Around 600 hours. The houseing on the transmission is cracked below the driver's seat. So it needs repaired. The guy wants $6500 as is. All works fine except for the repair needed on the transmission case. Is this worth the price?

that's just insane,.........asylum. Sorry, couldn't resist. But that is a lot of $ for a tractor that size with a cracked housing, in my opinion. Probably caused by the backhoe(?). You should get the extent of damage checked out and determine cost of repair first.

If it's the same gentleman I talked to, the case is broken from the stresses of the back hoe. He had a complete replacement parts tractor (in PA?) with a transmission gear problem. The dealer wanted $1800. for it.

I think, unless you are mechanically confident, in no hurry and can negotiate a much better deal, You might just pass this one by.

Yes, I thought he was a little insane on the price as well. I just needed some confirmation.
