Need advice on what to buy.

Haha, my mom works at a deere dealership that is in the process of selling out after 60 years in business. They are sort of being forced out.

Sorry to hear that...it really is a shame to see that happening to companies after that long in business :-(

Don't be. She gets to keep her job, as does everyone else at the dealership. They are being bought out by a Dealer with 4 other dealerships. John Deere just will not allow the dealership to be passed down to the son that works there. They apparantly only want a multi-dealer network. The family dealerships are being phased out, due to the fact they can not compete with the larger dealers (this is all word of mouth info).

So, the new mx5100 or the used 5055e?

the 5055E is much more tractor.

Have you looked at the DK series Kiotis? DK40/45/50
Lifts 350lbs more than the kubota, and 350 less than the Deer.
Several thousand dollars cheaper than either one of those tractors.
Full factory warranty.
Remote comes as standard equipment

JMHO, but the JD is more tractor. It's heavier, so that means it will be more stable while lifting, etc. Higher lift capacity. You've already admitted that the 5100 was "almost enough" tractor, so why go there again? If you decide to sell or upgrade in the future, the green paint will be worth more.

I agree that the Deere is more rig. As far as the lack of shuttle shift, I had it on my International and thought I'd miss it when I bought my 5045d, but its pretty easy to shift from forward to reverse on the go with a quick clutch in between...becomes intuitive very quickly. Either way you go, post some pics!!'
