Greg, super sorry guy, I did get your email and I will get back to you today, sometimes you just get so busy that you get sidetracked for a while. I'm positive its fixable is my short answer.

Thanks. I did get your e-mail message. Its just that the e-mail I use at work is mainframe based, and sometimes I just don't know if it actually works, so I wasn't sure you got it. I certainly understand how it gets busy. I e-mailed photos to you today, but here is one for others.

I would like to thank Buck at EFC for his help in determining the best solution for repair of the axle on my YM1110D. While it won't be cheap - I think it is the best solution - perhaps better than the original construction.
The e-mails have flown between Buck and me for a couple of days. Then he called me today and spent almost an hour on the telephone with me.
Again - THANKS BUCK!
Its great to have guys out there like Buck - willing to go out of his way to help.
I would still prefer to have a complete better axle to start with (and may still get one), but short of that, rebuilding it as he instructed me will be a very good solution.

I now have all of the parts I need to rebuild my YM1110D front axle. I got the machined shafts and gears back from the machine shop last week. The guy at the shop said "man, those are hard shafts!" I just received the rest of the parts I needed from Japan today.
Its time for re-assembly! I'll try to get some photos of the machined shafts and gears and post them here.
