Hello everyone. You guys have been so helpful with all this information, but know I don't no what model would be the best for my needs. I have 10 acres in florida which is wooded and low. I plan to use it to clear the property and raise the ground level so that i can build on it. The trees and brush are not to big and with the water level so high the trees push over very easy. I really respect your inputs and appreciate all the help you can give

I also live in Florida. I have some low land with mud and lots and lots of sand. I have a tc 35. It does everything I need it to. I would be sure to get 4wd. Sand not a problem but mud is tough. Loader is very strong for its class.

I believe you would be better off if you hired the clearing out to someone with the proper equipment. (not a compact tractor) If you don't have a time frame and enjoy doing it, it can be done.

Where are you in Florida? I am in New Smyrna Beach. If you don't want to answer I will understand. Just curious. Might be neighbors.

Csaw I live just West of Orlando in a small town called Groveland. That is funny that you would say that my wife suggested that I get someone to do the clearing but that would take all the fun out of it for me. I agree with your choice on the TC35D 4x4, but just wanted some extra input. Thanks for your help.

Glad to see some other floridians. I live in summerfield... which is about 60 miles north of orlando.

I don't have a nice new boomer.. just a 1997 NH1920.. but it is a good machine.

If you have the time, a tractor like the TC35 or larger would be suggested for clearing trees & brush. I just spent the last 3 years clearing land here in OHIO with a TC33.
If I were doing it again, this is what I think that I would do...
Buy a good 40-50 hp used (about 20 yrs old) with loader (maybe Yanmar) to due the clearing. This kind of work can be hard on tractors & "dinging" an older unit would be easier to swallow.
Then, once all the heavy work is done, sell the used older, larger tractor (probably for near what you paid for it)and buy a new(er), smaller tractor like a TC24.
Of course, I don't know all the other uses that you will need your tractor for.

I have the TC40D w/SS and love it.........but if I lived in Florida and the budget allowed, I would look at a similar size 'bota w/ a cab and air ;-) . Too bad NH doesn't offer a cab for the larger Boomers.

Kenman, I agree completely with CSAW. Clearing trees and raising the level of land is dozer work rather than compact tractor work. If you want the "fun" I would buy a small dozer or track loader to do the job and then sell it and buy the tractor after most of the heavy work is done. If you buy a new tractor and "trash" it doing that kind of heavy work, you will end up with a loss of your money's value without achieving your goal. ...now again, if you just want to clear underbrush and do smaller jobs, a tractor is perfect for that kind of work. In my opinion, one of the easiest mistakes to make is overestimating what you can do with a compact tractor. /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif What ever way you go, good luck.
