Makes no sense to me either.

Instead of the woed "warm", insert the word "drain" and it makes perfect sense.

Because that is all it will do on a cold winter day. Help to drain the battery faster.

Allthough if it is indeed true, Maybe in the winter I'll start leaving my dome light on. That way the battery is already warm the next morning when I go to work:laughing:

Not a lick of sense to me. What would a few amps of headlight current do to warm a battery that a few hundred amps of starting current would not? Maybe your BIL is the GM engineer who designed GM's running lights on their pickups and Suburbans. You know, the ones running up and down the road with only one light working.

Good one!!! Actually he was an engineer working on the original GM electric car, until they ended that project.

Or you could leave the headlights on too, and your battery would be warm enough you could drive a block or two on the starter cranking power alone...yeah, right.

When i had my dodge I had used the dodgetalk forum a lot to figure out its many problems. DodgeTalk.com is a great place for info.

:confused2:...........Care to explain this intelligent quote......:confused2:......

Intelligent? How about factual.

Well since you want to put it that way big shot do your own research on the subject.

In the future you might try a different approach when talking to people who you don't know they probably know more than you and remember when you open your mouth you show how smart you are. ;)

Here's an update on my son's truck. We went to the wreckers and got another alternator, so far everything seems right. This truck is closing in on half a million kilometers so what was said about brushes makes a lot of sense. On a side note I learned a trick using booster cables that when it is so cold out and your battery has only enough oomph to hardly turn over the motor that you can take your cables and for a half of a second short out the battery which apparently warms it up and increases the cranking amps. I've never had to try it since our batterys have always been up to snuff to roll the motor over.
At today's shop rates, 80 an hour average around here it sure is great to be able to hit on you all for diagnostic help.
