I haven't used this tractor /loader much since I bought it several weeks ago.

I have been meaning to give it a good check out just haven't had time & the rain never seems to stop, the lift & curl both seem weak to me.

Friday I was pushing over some small brush when the lift stopped working completely could lower the loader just not lift. Curl seemed to work fine I used the curl to push the lift arms up enough to get the tractor out of the field. Normally when lifting or curling there is a slightly noticeable load on the engine, afterwards there seemed to be no load as I tried to use the lift.

Yesterday when I got back from work cranked her up to pull it around to work on and the lift worked as well as it had been before. After several minutes of cycling the lift & curl the lift stopped working again after bumping the lift numerous time suddenly the lift started working again. It has a Gresen 2702 AB (cast) body stamped with what looks like G85 & has an externally adjustable relief . It almost seems as if I have trash in the valve body or maybe a load check is sticking?

I don't have any hydraulics experience so this is all new to me and need some help. Shortly ( hr or so) I am going to drain it & check the filter, fluid level is good after that I guess I will start checking pressures that's where I need help.

So I need a test method & what to look for.

Thanks
John

So it seems when the hydraulic oil warms up that's when it malfunctions? Possibly seals in the cylinder (s)?

Maybe, however I have worked the loader somewhat harder with no problems.

I plan on rebuilding the cylinders in the future I just need to find the right kits. NH web list at over 60.00 a cylinder so I was trying to get by for a little while or find cheaper kits.

Thanks for the thought I would test the theory but the weather is not being cooperative.

Oil level is 8-10 inches below the fill plug which is about the range everyone seems to recommend

Had something similar going on with my 1959 MF-65. After replacing the two lift cylinders it worked properly. I replaced the diverter valve first, then the selector valves before the cylinders though. Each time there was an improvement in performance. In my case they were all old and worn so I started with the least expensive item to replace.

Yeh, I will probably start replacing parts before long. However I want to check it out as best as possible first. I don't want to spend as much rebuilding this one as I would an aftermarket loader.

Working on it, trying to scrounge some place for 10 gal of oil.

A filter change is a better place to start than jacking around with valve parts and cylinder kits you probably don't need. You might be able to re-use the oil, and it would be a good idea to use containers that don't preclude that. But it may be obvious after it is drained that oil quality is part of the problem.
