Need Help - Front Weights

   / Need Help - Front Weights #11
Frank,

On my uncle's farm I drove an MF235 gas, that had a forklift on the 3pt. We carried 2300 lbs on the forklift. We used a variety of weights to keep the front wheels down: a stamping die about 80lb, 2-60lb front weights, 1-75lb front weight and some threaded rod to hold the die in place. All of it was hung on the front weight mount.

Thanks guys, some good ideas. I found my barbells but they only had 2 small, sand filled pastic weights on them. I'm going to hit some yard sales this week-end to see if I can find some more weights or ammo cans. Which way I go will depend on what I can up with.

Like Slamfire, I used an ammo can. I found a good-sized one at my local Army-Navy store(can't recall the size for sure but believe it was a mortar shell box). I then went to a local tire store and
got a big, heavy bucketful of discarded lead weights. I ran 4 large bolts through the box to match the 4 holes in my Yanmar's bumper, filled the box with the weights and a mixture of concrete to make things solid. I painted the box to match my chassis--one year later, no problems and I don't bounce anymore! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
