Hi everyone ... I'm a newbie who is amazed at the knowledge floating around on this site. I'm hoping some of you can help with a few questions I have.

I just bought 9 acres - 7 acres of timber, 2 acres of grass, 600' gravel driveway. My primary activities will be clearing timber, removing snow, and general purpose loader work.

Here's the equipment my dealer quoted for me (with prices):

JD 2520 HST with R4 tires ($12,160 after $2500 discount)
200CX loader with 61" bucket ($2,966)
54" quick-hitch snow blower ($3270)

The total for these three items comes to ~$18,400 before tax. I've also received a quote on a zero-turn mower (z655) for $4957 after $500 multiple-unit discount.

I'll probably get the lighting kit (one facing forward, one facing back), will use a rear blade with weights for ballast,

QUESTIONS:
1. I think this is a pretty competitive quote ... am I right or wrong?

2. What other things do I need to consider getting in the quote? (ballast box? pallet forks? iMatch? tire spacing? chain hooks? canopy? any other suggestions?)

3. How easy is it to take off the quick-hitch snow blower and put on the loader?

4. Engine block heater? The tractor will be in a garage, but I'm in Iowa, where the winter weather can get pretty nasty.

Am I forgetting anything?

Thanks so much for the help on this.

That price looks to be right. I'm going on memory from people posting here and searching on TractorHouse.com and MachineFinder.

I wish I could I have that tractor. Nice machine.

I would say buy as many attachments as you can afford when you buy the tractor. I think the dealer can lean to your side on priceing as it is a major purchase. There will be many attachments you will want and none of them come cheap.

You are going to be using the tractor in the woods. 2 big ticket items are a Chipper and a Winch. You might consider those.

What type of tires are you getting.??

Best wishes with the purchase.

Get the ballast box and a iMtach quick hitch. The rear blade will get in the way and likely not be heavy enough for proper ballast.

The forks the dealer will sell you are to heavy, these are a perfect fit: Artillian Pallet Forks for John Deere Tractor Loaders

Here are some Bolt on Chain Hooks.

There are lots of threads on both these subjects recently in the JD forum.

Kenny is right about the imatch, not sure why I waited so long. I got a canopy right after my first all day sunburn. Also a carryall and have found a lot of uses for it. By the way I have no regrets on the 2520 it is a great tractor.

a carry all is a platform that hooks to your 3pt,so you can haul stuff around like wood.

King Kutter Tractor 3 Point Hitch Carry All

Here is a link to one. Make sure it is I-match compatible or be prepared to make some modifications. My advice would be to buy I-match compatible attachments even if you don't get the I-match right away. That way you don't need to make any changes if you decided to buy one later.

King Kutter Tractor 3 Point Hitch Carry All

Here is a link to one.

That one looks exactly like the carry-all I bought from Tractor Supply for $199. Does the same company make the carry-all sold by TSC and KK?

I think so. Mine is a King Kutter and I bought it at TSC.

Not sure but the $2,500 is a rebate which means the dealer or the buyer is given back the money so you shouldn't figure that amount in until a dollar amount is agreeed upon first. For example the tractor lists for what $15,588.00, figure a 10% discount = $14,029.00, now subtract $2,500...=$11,529 just for the tractor. The attachments look about right or fair I should say.
