I need help identifying a John Deere wheel hub.
I am running out of ideas, and despite my pride, I think it's time to take my wife's advice and just ask someone.
A wheel hub on a custom trailer, which has large sentimental value having been built by my late father, broke due to a freak accident. The trailer, with a full cord of red oak, was parked on a slight side incline when the downhill tire went flat and rolled off the bead. That caused the upper tire to be pulled downhill which broke the wheel hub. I was not present at the time, but I was told that there were some 'strange noises'.
The axle, hubs, and rims of this custom trailer were sourced from some piece of equipment that nobody in the family can remember.
There are no markings on the wheel hub to identify it such as a mold part number, but the remaining paint clearly identifies the hub as originally being from a John Deere something or other.
Trying to guess the equipment and checking whether the axle and hubs look similar has not been successful. I have checked the relevant parts on all derelict equipment that I, or anyone else, can remember my dad having(e.g. 16a chopper, lf-8 drop spreader), and I cannot find anything that looks remotely similar.
The axle is a single solid piece roughly 75" from tip to tip(could not measure directly) and still appears to have the original axle mounts.
The wheel hub has 6 bolts(1/2") on a 6" diameter. I measured 4.632" for the pilot hole, but there was considerable rust, and the true value is probably whatever the standard number is around 4.6".
See the attached drawing(jpg) for the axle measurements.
Any sort of guidance would be appreciated.
