What you said about the screen being full of metal shavings is a big concern. Something (perhaps the hydraulic pump) is shedding material into the system. I am afraid that you are looking a much more than just a new control valve, likely a new pump.

Hydraulic pumps don't require bleeding. You must be confusing this with fuel pump.

Actually on this tractor, bleeding the hyd pump IS necissary after any hyd service.
The manual discribes the procedure in detail.
The only thing left out is grabbing a handful of rags first!
Many newer Masseys require bleeding after service, or you are dead in the water.

Good news. My bucket came back, I think it was frozen up. It was cold as ****.
Anyway I picked up a two spool lever for the tractor, however it only has two open ports for the in, and out. Now because I have the backhoe my old setup had one in, and two outs (I think?). The extra one goes to the backhoe.
The new question I have is, do I pull one of the capped plugs in my new lever to insert the line to the hoe? And if so, which one? I'm assuming that it's the port closest to the input line? So the fluid can bypass(?) the spools to go to the hoe?

Ok bumping the thread. Still no backhoe action, well very slow and no power. Bucket and drive work well?

If you have no action on the backhoe at all including stabilizer arms then check the return and feed lines. Make sure they are connected correctly and make sure you have enough fluid.

I've got some action in the hoe, I can lower and raise the stabilizers any swing the boom side to side, but there is only about 5/10% power and subsequently speed. The only thing that doesn't work at all is the main arm to the rig, but luckily I have that locked out in the travel mode anyway and there is enough fluid.

Did you replace the original spool valve?
