Ok guys, a little more information from yesterday. My brother and I took the plate thats right above the injection pump. How tight should be the spring on the hand throttle control? We could actually control the throttle by manually moving the bracket thats connected to the pump. Sorry if my terminology is off.

Maybe this drawing will help some. Sounds like nothing wrong with the pump. Yanmar Tractor Parts: GOVERNOR

That's what I was trying to find out, and eliminates the pump as a problem. How tight is tight:confused:?

If you disconnect the linkage from arm #22 and move the arm all the way to full throttle it should move back when you let it go. If the spring #20 is broke or come off it will just stay where you left the arm and will not control the governor which will let the engine rev up.

Ok we took about the pump again, and corrected some errors that happened the last time we messed with. I know that probably is the reason why it was running wide open. Now my our problem is that we are getting fuel to the injectors but the motor will not run. Any ideas?

Is the exhaust putting out smoke? What color, and how much? If fuel is getting to the injectors, at the right time and with sufficient compression, it WILL run, it has to. Does the engine sound like it's got good compression, lugging the starter as each piston cycles? There are lots of threads about trying to get these things started. Try putting the throttle in the middle of its travel. Activate the compression release, and crank the engine. It will spin a lot faster than without the release activated. Then deactivate the release and let it crank for several revolutions. Do that a couple times. It should fire right up, but if it doesn't, you should at least start to get smoke. If it's not smoking, something else is amiss.

It sounds as if, when you originally ran out of fuel, instead of just refuelling and bleeding the air from the lines, you pulled the pump and bent the linkage or something. did you ever properly bleed the air from the lines?
