I have a new normand snowblower.we had our first snow this past weekend. When I was snowblowing I noticed it was pushing snow with very little coming out the shoot.I checked all shear pins ,Nothing broke.everything turns but leaves a pile of snow when I stop.Is there something wrong with the way I installed it.Do i need to angle it more to the back or more to the front. This thing is p##sing me off
I candidly hate to even suggest what I am about to tell you UGH!!!!, But as the open auger is pushing the material out and you have no snow being spanked and thrown over the cliff and left for dead so to speak
The little brat is running backwards; Its entirely possible you may have been saddled with a front mount REVERSE drive P.T.O., snow blower.
The quick way to check is paint a large dot on the last portion of ribbon near the center of the cross auger and if the dot travels inward when you start the rear P.T.O., at a low engine speed-low idle speed when its empty, its running backwards.
Whoopsie!!!
This is worse than lefty, loosy, righty, tighty, on army six by sixes UGH!!!
One sure way to tell is to do the following,
lower blower on the ground or the shop floor;
clear all the snow out of the blower and chute when the tractor is shut down
and the PTO IS OFF!!!!!, Then disconnect the P.T.O shaft from the gear box and the tractor and set it aside out of the way to avoid tripping over it.
Now after this is all done-
you will able to do the following rotate the cross auger by pulling it towards you with a pipe wrench or chain wrench on the cross auger shaft.
depending upon the position of the exit point from the impeller drum being left or right-
right side exit from drum- would require the load side of the impeller to rotate counterclock wise to discharge snow out of the auger housing when the cross auger is turned inward
left side impeller exit point would require the load side of the impeller paddle impeller to operate clockwise when the auger is turned inward
IF the rear mount PTO is used; the gear box is is set up to rotate to the left which would require a reverse gearbox for a front mount; left, right, dizzy, HA,HA.
If the auger is rotating inward and the impeller does not lead to the chute opening with the load side of the impeller paddle-not good for the home team
Whoopsie

ME thinks you may have a front mounted snow blower hiding as a rear mount snow blower. WHOOPSIE!!!!!
Option 2 which is also entirely plausible in that-
you have a sheared key in the gear box, or one or both of the sprockets for the chain drive rotating the cross auger.
The impeller paddle shaft has sheared its key but the cross auger is still functioning, as the spur gear is still rotating the chain until it encounters a load of snow where the cross auger is filling the housing and the snow is simply being pushed in and out of the auger housing.
option 3 is the PTO is not fully engaged on the tractor which is also possible.
