Mowing Need Help Stuck Mower height Control Knob

Yet another newbie question. Currently on my JD2305, I have the 62C MMM attached and the Mower Height Control Knob is on the lock icon. Apparently this is only to be used when the deck is not attached? How do you get to the install position to take the deck off? As I said. MMM is on and in the locked position. I can not turn the knob either clockwise or counter clockwise. How do you get the deck to lower so you can cut? Probably need to raise the rockshaft all the way to take the weight off of the lock. I believe that most of these height knobs/locks will not move when the weight of the mower deck is resting on them. Just make sure its lifted all the way, then try to move your knob. See what happens.

I had this issue when my 2305 was new. I found that I needed to take the pressure off the control knob by insuring the deck was fully raised. It will settle slowly and put press on the control and you will not be able to adjust it. I also found it easier to turn the knob off the tractor than from the seat. After a few hour of use it will be easier to adjust. Hope this helps. Enjoy the new tractor.

Tried with the rockshaft control level back or up and could not get it. Will try to turn the knob when off the tractor instead of sitting in the seat. Hope you are right and the knob just needs a few turns to break it in and loosen up over time. Thanks. any one else?????

I found that with my 2210 if you accidentaly step on the knob and push it too far down on the shaft it will bind up. Try prying it up a bit. Also if the mower is out of adjustment the knob can jamb up. Try lifting up on the mower with your hand and then try the knob. My mower was adjusted horribly by the dealer and did not function correctly. If it is out of adjustment the manual describes the adjustment process.

Raised the rock shaft up and waited for a few minutes with the tractor off. Then got off the tractor and turned the knob. That seemed to do it. Perhaps the better grip/leverage helped. Thanks folks

The same thing happened on my 62c deck. All I did to free it was, pick the deck up and down a couple of times by hand on one side and it free it self. My knob wouldn't turn either so it the same problem that I had. Only happen once, it's not an on going problem.

A few years back when I first bought my 2210 the deck would not lower so I called my JD dealer and they had a guy come out and look at it.It turns out that when they took it off the trailer it pushed up on the deck causing it to jam.So he loosen a nut on the left side.There on the left side is a lift rod that is attached to you mid lift links behind the rear tire you can not miss it just loosen that nut and it should fix the problem.Any questions E-mail me at Megatowline@yahoo.com

I had this problem many times. when it happens I get off and shake the deck by hand from the left side and it comes right loose. may have something to do with the deck not hanging quite level sometimes. I thought maybe there might be some "flashing" on the edge of the corkscrew underneath that does the actual hanging. I notice sometimes the front hangar isn't quite centered on the machine's frame which kind of hints at the theory it jiggles around and gets crooked sometimes.
