Are you out there? How did it go?

It is. If you leave out the pipe, it's called a French Drain. But the pipe is cheap.

Yep still here. I haven't worked on the project yet, still waiting to catch my neighbor to see when I can get the hoe. I'll take some pic's when I do it and post them. Hopefully will be able to work on it this saturday.

Project is done! It went very well, only took one weekend. I ended up backfilling the trench about half way and putting the drain pipe just a few feet down. I found out that the water wasn't coming up from the ground below (spring), the problem was simply run-off and a gutter downspout in that corner of the house. I "teed" the tile so the downspout now feeds directly into it. I also added another tile in which the inlet is just a few inches below ground level, exactly at the corner of the house. I covered the entire thing with high quality geo-textile cloth. I also covered the ends of the pipes with the cloth. We did get some rain last night and it seemed to work well. I'll have to wait for a good downpour to really see how it works. Thank you for all the advice.

Dave,

Glad it went well!! Didn't want to be reading about you in the Safety forum...
A couple questions on your implementation technique.
When you said you put a T in to connect the downspout, did you connect that to the pipe coming off the house at the 45? How much fall is on that pipe coming out at the 45? I'm just asking to see if it's possible for water to backup into your new tile.
Did you cover the end of the pipe that dumps into the yard with the cloth also? If so, you're probably going to want to remove this. Leaves coming down from your gutters will clog that pretty quickly. You will want some kind of cover to keep varmints out.
Since you got all that spare dirt, is it time to put some tile in that ditch near the road, connect everything up and cover?

Where's the pictures?!?!?

Yes the downspout is "teed" into the pipe that comes off at a 45. I have 1'' pitch for every 15'' of pipe. I screwed a bunch of drywall screws into sides of the pipe at the very end to keep critters out. That's a good point though about the leaves, I'll have to check it a couple times a year and clean out the end if neccessary. Pic's will come soon, been very busy and just found there's a bun in the oven, so things have been a bit hectic lately.
