I recently bought a b6200d and I need help with the ignition switch. The one on the tractor is missing the chrome retainer nut and my local Kubota dealer will only sell me the whole ignition switch and not just the retainer nut. Does anyone have any extra ones or any ideas of what I can use as a retainer nut? I just don't want to spend $50 for a new switch when I don't need it. If not, how do I remove the switch? I tried getting access but the wires are too short to pull from the bottom. Do I need to take the tank off? If I need to take the panels off, how do I do it? The version of the service manual I have (from this forum) does not show me how. Thank you in advance

Figure out the diameter by seeing what size open end wrench fits on the threads. Then either use a tool to measure thread pitch or guess.

It probably has the same size retainer as a lot of other types of equipment (maybe same ign switch) you could look around a little.

I also need the air cleaner assembly. Does anyone have any ideas what I could use instead since they are expensive.

tjkubota93, I've been looking for a week to see if I can match up any equipment that would fit mine. I even went to the hardware store and got some electric box nuts to see if that would screw on, but it didn't work. Your idea on how to measure is very helpful. thanks

Your doohickey is fine threads, conduit nuts are coarse threaded

I found a lot by searching ignition switch retainer nut on google.

Go buy a few metric nuts of size measured with different threads. One should fit. Then cut it down with a hacksaw.

I did the google search, but which one will fit the kubota? That is the million dollar question.

I picked up this tractor for $1000 in nonrunning condition. After cleaning out the fuel system, replacing the stop and compression cables, and giving it a complete tuneup I got the machine to fire up. The only issues with it is that the previous owner (an old timer) used the loader to mix cement, it's missing a side skirt, the air cleaner, and the retainer nut for the ignition system. I paid another $100 for the wheel weights. The funny thing is that I wasn't even looking for a tractor! I just happen to look on craigslist and saw the tractor listed for $1500 and I just couldn't pass up the deal. I ended up being the first person to reach the kid and bought it on the spot after a little negotiating. Right place at the right time.
