Need help with Dad's tractor - Ford 3610

Hint..."Made in China"

The original OEM spindle was probably US/UK made. I have repaired a few of those in the last few years and most aftermarket spindles were made in China or India.

but doesn't that suggest that the oem wasn't strong enough? I can see breaking one catching a wheel on a tree or immovable object, but normally one does not expect metal fatigue on a tractor.
btw, welcome aboard.

This is the OEM part that broke, my Dad bought his tractor in 1981. New spindle arrived yesterday. Time to fix the tractor.
Kyle, I'll blame my brother for probably cracking the axel when we were installing the cattle guard and heavy cement beams. Half of the break had grease in it so it has been ready to fail.

Ford made 3 front spindle axels for different tractor set-ups on the 3610. The first replacement one I ordered was thicker than this one but the wrong size. That is the one that probably should have been on a tractor with a front end loader. My dad probably had them add the FEL when he bought it and the front end was not built for the extra weight.

It's fixed!

Since I used the FEL as a jack and lots of big blocks of wood under the tractor, the hardest part was putting back the rocker pin in the steering mechanism connecting the new spindle axel to the tie rod, just an extra trip back home for more tools and an extra hour.

Drew thanks! Your link helped a lot. You had the right part number in your link to "All States". "Yesterday's Tractor" listed only one spindle for the 3610, the one I had to send back, but when I told them I found the spindle on another web site they asked for the part number and said they had the part listed for a 2310 but if I'm sure by the measurement that that is the right part they would give me a break (only $7) on the shipping charge (since I had to return the other spindle on my dime ($35), and they also had the part for $14.60 less.
