Need help with Husco hydraulic control valves....on a bucket truck

PTSG- I'll dig deeper into the joystick linkages and see if theres something that should be actuating that isnt. More pics and progress to come.

oldsnslo- there are two hoses connected to each spool of the valve control that i assume run to the lower control selector block and then back up to the individual rams/motors? I'm not that familiar with these systems, can you elaborate on the difference of a pilot style system, I thought spools always have to have two hoses.

I may have misunderstood when you mentioned joystick control. I interpreted that as being a remote pilot source for shifting the main valves. I.e. two small hoses from the joystick to each valve section to pilot(shift) the main spool or Does the joystick mechanically connect to the valve spools?

sorry for not being clearer, the joystick mechanically operates the valve spools. Its called a joystick but its older equipment and only operates one function at a time. While newer equipment is much faster and smoother allowing you to operate two or three spools simultaneously this is old one nice and simple.

In looking at the plumbing hoses 1 & 2 appear to be pressure and tank. But then looking further it looks the steel tube item 9 is also used to feed the mini valves on the upper valve. Appears this tube is supplied by shifting one of the main valve sections.

What I do not see is the tank line for the mini valves or is that connection via casting item 21?

Do the functions move at all from the upper valve?

I dove into the joystick linkage and as it turns out, the trigger on the joystick is actually the throttle for all of the joystick controls. It also works as a safety, if it isnt depressed the joystick controls wont function. However, when it is depressed the winch, jib and bucket tilt will NOT work.
The entire issue turned out to be the linkage on the throttle wasnt properly lubricated and the return spring had broken off, so the spool return spring wasnt enough to close the throttle. So in effect the throttle was always depressed just enough that those three 'auxiliary' functions were locked out, but not enough for the joystick controls to work.

I want to thank all of you for your troubleshooting, sharing your knowledge and expertise. Everything works and I could not have done it without you.

hopefully this thread helps someone in the future whos in a similar boat. Nothing sucks more than stumbling upon a detailed thread where the OP has the exact same problem only to reach the last post and find they never reported back what the remedy was.
