Need Help with Joystick!!!!

Hey guys I am new here and I amd buying a JD 4720 CAB with FEL with 4N1 bucket, my question is I dont like the setup for the control for the 3rd valve not being on the loader stick. I found a picture of a 4320 for sale on ebay that has a unique stick with ALL controls on it....Anyone know who sells this for how much and is it worth it?

I don't really like that stick either. Ask your dealer if they can get you the stick that you can get on the 5025 series tractors. This is what mine looks like:

That stick in your picture will override a function (probably dump/curl) and moving the stick with the button pushed in will open the 4in1 instead of curl the bucket, etc.. My stick allows me to do all three functions at the same time. If you can't dump your bucket while closing your 4in1, you'll never be able to get clean pick ups on piles (one of the many great things a 4in1 does). However you get it set up, be able to use all three at once. You may have to add a third mid-SCV to do it (don't know much about 4720s), but it would be worth it...

Is the control for the 4n1 using the rear remote? If so, then there is no way to add it to the joystick.
If it's using an electric diverter solenoid then we can help you...

I think that could be the problem. I went through the configurator for the 4720 and you only get two SCV options: Dual Mids or Dual Mids and a Single Rear...

How about the one on ebay? So you need the electric diverter kit to have a 4n1 work thru a joystick?

Yes. With the electric solenoid valve, you can put the switch anywhere. Many companies make sticks with switches built in. Your dealer should be able to get you one. If they're using the rear SCV, the upside is you'll be able to use all three functions at the same time, the down side is you'll have to use the rear SCV lever to operate the third function. Do you know which way your tractor will be plumbed?

The one on ebay is electric. If you do a search you'll find lots of companies make stick heads with buttons/switches. There is an extra switch on the tractor from ebay as well...

Some companies make the whole valve kits, like this one from WR Long. Their kit allows use of all three functions simultaneously as well. They work with dealers. My 4in1, grapple, stump bucket, and forks came from them through my JD dealer.

Where do the hoses go?
Where is the control now?-is it a lever or a switch?

I am in the process of ordering the tractor and want to resolve this before getting it and than realizing I made a mistake.......

I just installed the hoses to use my grapple with the 3rd scv. On the 3320 the 3rd scv handle is only about 8 inches from the joystick. I can open/close the grapple pretty easily this way. I had this grapple on my 2520 and used a fasse diverter with a button on the joystick and it worked okay also, but I did get mixed up some with the little button, forgetting to let go of it to tilt/dump the grapple. Dealer doesnt want to order me the diverter kit unless we figure out this joystick problem.....He has had NO LUCK with JD, so its up to me to find out about aftermarket joysticks with thumb switch......Plus if I order the tractor with the diverter kit, will I be able to use it with someone elses joystick?

I have the Deere diverter on my 3320. To use it, I flip a rocker switch then use the joystick. It seems all you would have to do is get a joystick switch. I know fasse has a grip with switch built in you just slip over your own joystick. My fasse diverter was the cheaper model that came with a switch that looked like a doorbell button. I just zip tied it to the joystick. JC

Do you have a picture of you setup?

I don't have a pic of my setup. It is just a rocker switch next to the 3rd valve handle. If you search under diverter you will find pics of the switches on the joystick. I saw them when I was looking for an aftermarket diverter. I may be here in the deere section or in the hydraulice section. JC

Oh I thought you had a switch ON your joystick, like a thumb control......Your talking about the diverter switch on the console....

Jerry, Read THIS thread about building a grapple, it has link in it to a nice handle. There are also others you can buy if you search around.

I bought one from JD that is for a 110 backhoe, It was pricey at $180.00 but I fell in love with the feel of it...I just need time to install it!

What does yours look like? Buttons on the side or top? You have a 4n1 bucket that you control with it?
