My '95 TAFE 351DI just received a new battery, and that did not solve the non-starting problem, though it comes to life easily if I short across the solenoid with a piece of iron. There is a #10 wire coming out of the harness and sliding onto a wide spade connector on the upper bolt on the solenoid. Another of those wide spade connectors on a different wire with a 30 amp fuse went back onto the right side of the alternator. It is bolted on now. A smaller wire on a small push on connector went onto a recessed spade connector just above the big, hot, 12 v. feed. There is other wire of 16 gauge which comes out of the bottom of the alternator, but I don't know of it being connected to anything in the 14 years I have owned it.
The problem is another wire peaking out of the harness, a yellow one about 14 gauge with a push on connector which I believe is supposed to go onto the solenoid, but I can't find a place to plug it in. I suspect it is the one which actuates the starter.
