Went out to garage to start up ranger the other morning and it would not start. It ran fine the night before. I took the plug out, it was fine. took the hose out of gas tank, the screen was clean. What should I try to do next? Can anyone help?
You really should fill in your profile so we know what climate we are dealing with here. Did you choke it? Is the fuel shut off in the closed position?
Don't just look at the plug. Test it. Get someone to hit the starter while you look at the plug to see if you are getting spark. Eliminate the whether it is an electrical problem first and then determine whether it is getting fuel or not. You may want to try the guys over at the Polaris Ranger Club forum also. Real nice bunch of folks there, a lot like this site.
Thanks for the ideas. I have been gone all day, but will try to test the plug tomorrow. I hate being without the ranger. The weather is not a factor. I don't ever use the choke, because the slighest use of it has always caused it to flood. The Ranger is a 2005 with only 200 hours on it. I've never had any problems with it. It was running fine the night before when I pulled it in the garage and shut it off. I am going to drain the gas out. Does anyone know how to do this?
is there anytype of plug on the bottom of the carb or is it efi?? if it has a carb and it had a plug running to the side or bottom of it with a wire going to it try takin the plug out and holding your finger or gettin a bolt the same size as the plug to cover the hole . then try to start it .if it starts there is yor problem. mine went out on my gator one time(defective) one way that gave me a sign was the plugs were dry and it wasn't gettin no gas to the cylinders.but anyway check the plug or should i say solinoid at the bottom or side of the carberator.
yea your right i forgot about that part /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. but does it have a solenoid on it? plus just it being a 05 should have been a give away right didn't the efi come out in the 06 modle?
